@mumssm Thabk you. She was disappointed but she understands. Hasn’t been her first no. She has an acceptance to one BFA program and an instate BA non audition school so she has a place to go if all else fails. Still waiting on Fordham and DePaul.
My daughter just got an email from texas state saying no to bfa acting and that they have accepted many students this year that had auctioned last year and she should audition again next year. Also asked to consider other BFA theatre programs that they offer.
@cassidysmom if you don’t mind, was your daughter on priority hold at texas state? So sorry, this is whole experience is such a roller coaster!
@frontrowmama no, she wasn’t. Darn it. It was her top choice!
@cassidysmom Thanks! Best wishes to your daughter!!!
@toowonderful Did Syracuse notify via email? Thanks
@jenniferm1973 - if memory serves, you got an email telling you to check your portal…
S got rejection from Minnesota today. Now we’ll always wonder if things would have been different if he could have attended callback weekend.
This long string of no’s is really starting to wear on us both. To top it off, today he wasn’t cast in the final play at his school. Trying to keep hopeful for next weeks results, but it’s hard.
@Naevia Ugh, I’m so sorry. Hoping for good news soon for your son!
@Naevia Sorry! This whole process is tough-I keep telling myself and S to keep the faith and trust what is meant to be. Much easier said than done, I know! Hang in there!
@Naevia Dang! Keep thinking positive - we’re pulling for you. It really is true that what’s meant to be is meant to be.
someone on the MT thread said their child was accepted to Ball State’s BFA acting. She also auditioned for the MT program but was not accepted.
@naevia, I’m so sorry. This process is absolutely brutal. My daughter is practically having panic attacks and, like your son, is second guessing things she did. I’m sorry about the school play casting too. Big hugs to you and your son, and I hope he gets some great acceptances soon.
@Naevia So sorry. This is so rough and each day feels like it could be tinged with joy, sorrow, or anxiety on the waiting process. Hang in there!. Absolutely nuts. Just get us all to the end of the month!
@Naevia - I am so sorry to hear. Second guessing is hard not to do. But all you can do is the best with the information you have. I am also very sorry about the casting. That’s a major downer for right now.
Seeking info:
Do any veteran parents have insight to share about how financial aid notifications work for students on waitlists? Do schools usually give waitlisted applicants an estimated FA award, contingent (obviously) on ultimate admission? Or do they wait and tell you once you come off the waitlist… and if so, do they usually notify you pretty much immediately after you’re admitted?
Not asking because my family is in this position ourselves, but because I figure that any number of us very well could be there in the next few weeks. Which suddenly makes a 5/1 decision deadline feel much closer than it used to feel.
@Naevia, I’m so sorry. Your child is obviously very talented if invited to Guthrie callback in the first place. Best of luck from here on out!
Here is a new thread for acceptances by college. Normally there are two lists: one by CC handle, and the other by college name.

Thanks everyone for the kind responses and for letting me vent. Only a few more weeks of the waiting and I’m still hopeful he’ll end up where he is meant to be.
@Naevia what a bummer! And the second guessing is so hard. I am sorry. From every single thread I have read for the past two years, these kids end up where they are meant to be.
Can we all go back to the auditions and traveling together? That was so much more fun than this part! UGH.
