It is great we all have each other to vent to! No one else can understand how much more work these kids have and how competitive it is !
On a separate note from Audition Results, my D just finished her last audition today. Wow. I will be honest, it ended up being 17 schools because of 2 walk-ins at Unifieds. 3 in London plus Scotland (so those are all wayyy long shots, too), plus Juilliard. Also a long shot. So point being once you back those out, it’s 12. Sadly, that is a reasonable number for the competitive programs. I know you get it, but sharing for those who follow.
I enjoyed being with her so very much. My travel buddy, audition buddy. Nothing can take away that special time together, and your child will always know that you supported his/her dream, even if first choices don’t pan out and they take a slightly different path to get there. I also met a lot of wonderful parents, and a few students, on these boards, and a few in person. It’s a terrific community. But wow, it’s a weird feeling to be done.
Just checked Montclair portal and it changed from Acting to Undeclared … guess that’s a no! It was BFA acting
Well said @FourStars !!
@ginaf1102 , I’m SO with you on “can we go back to the fun part?” I keep thinking of one week in January when my D auditioned at her two top choices, and felt SO good about how those auditions went. We were so happy then, feeling really hopeful she might get one of them, and even having fun imagining which she’d choose if she got both!
Now, six weeks later, she’s been rejected at both of those schools, was crushed and heartbroken by that, and is now panic-stricken at what the next week might bring. All her “what if” imaginings are bad now.
I guess this is the part of the roller coaster ride when we’re hurtling downhill and screaming in terror and throwing up, lol.
@FourStars your words are so true, which is why even though my D finished the audition process almost 5 years ago, I am still following this board!
@FourStars I’m pulling for your D. All of the amazing acceptances on top of what she’s received so far. I know all of this is just chance in a bucket with a touch of having experience. You and your daughter have created some of the most amazing memories that I’m sure will be spoken of after she’s established
I think we all will be filled with exhaustion, anxiousness, proudness, relief, feel goods amongst sorrow all rolled up into one cup of tea
patience is a virtue but I am really at the very edge of having any at all
I am sooo sorry to hear that. May I ask what method of communication was used to inform him (i.e. Email, portal, etc.)?
God Bless.
@actorparent1 there is still time! Your D may end up being at the school that she feels is better than the 2 she had imagined and find her bliss Hoping to hear good news soon
@actorparent1 I am with you, completely. We have had some crushing blows lately and know there are more to come. We are all here to listen and support you!
@nanamama Minnesota Guthrie sent rejection via email. (Acceptances and waitlist are by phone call.)
Guthrie waitlists also via email.
Hang in there @actorparent1 and @Naevia and anyone else having doubt which is pretty much all of us. It’s so hard though. Please remember it only takes one to have a match.
@FourStars I totally agree. The application-audition process and all the travel, the stress, the fun – it was probably the last trip that my daughter and I will ever take together, just me and her, and though it had its ups and downs (she got the full-on Strain A Flu in NYC smack in the middle of auditions and completely lost her voice!) it was something that I believe neither of us will ever forget. We’re already pretty close, but it really helped bond us further, and helped me feel like I was a part of the process and could help her, in some way, through this incredibly complicated process. So no matter what happens for any of them – and I agree with others that I think they’ll all end up somewhere they belong and will hopefully find their joy – we’ll always have that!
Yay!! D just got the call from Joe Price. I cannot believe it!! She is bouncing off the walls. I am sending all my good vides to those that are still waiting!! Maybe he is going alphabetically - like during the callback weekend.
@ginaf1102 sending huge Congratulations to you and your D! Such wonderful news! Enjoy this happy night!
Congratulations, @ginaf1102 ! What school is that?
