Oh, if you’re leaving Friday, you’ll be fine! Snow will end Wednesday night, and Thursday and Friday will be sunny and 40 degrees. (At least according to the radio!)
Break a leg to your son @actingdreams! So thrilled for you!!!
I am biting nails waiting for Pace. My son auditioned for MT and the FTVO programs and haven’t heard a thing. That is the school we really would like! Crossing fingers for everyone!!
@actingdreams !! We are all cheering your S on! Fingers crossed for the weather to be smooth and fine! Your authentic, open chronicle of your S’s journey has kept me at the edge of my seat! Much love for your S and entire family this next few days!!
@actingdreams - all the best to your son for his Juilliard audition!! The fact that he’s made it this far is HUGE!
19 accepted Acting BFA students have their profiles under the Members tag on Ithaca site. About evenly split between males/females. My kid’s portal still listed as Interested. Anyone else in same boat? Assuming that portal won’t change until those accepted students make final decisions. I’m obsessing, I know, but I wish kid would be cut loose if a denial is inevitable.
Thanks Everyone! the countdown is here. @MomofJ5 LGA airport any show suggestions ? I’m hoping to catch one that isn’t being shown in Chicago right now. I will certainly try my best to stay busy
@HopeinMT than you! I wonder if the Director(s) of BFA Acting and FTVC are also over the MT program as well. If so, I was told that acceptances will be mailed early march and that they were going out now. Thanks Again @Atreuh this isn’t the first time a student from his school has made it to the final 40 (it’s 50 this year because of so many applicants) hope his school can finally seal the deal :)) Thanks @frontrowmama [-O<
Hi everyone! I’m a freshman in the UMN/Guthrie BFA program, so I thought I’d jump in to answer any questions you might have. We’ve also created a group for accepted students so PM me if you/your kid wants to be added. It’s an absolutely amazing program, the faculty are insanely dedicated, supportive, and knowledgeable, and the connection with the Guthrie is pretty life-changing. Also, to answer the questions about the waitlist, the reason so many people get in off the waitlist is that they do not over-accept like a lot of other programs. They accept exactly 20 (or this year 16) and then take people off the waitlist as soon as others decline the offer.
@Isaroo thanks for chiming in. Can you clarify…“so many people get off the waitlist” . How many is so many! And did they truly only accept 16 kids this year?
Yeah my company is only 18, and they really liked having the smaller class so they’re trying to transition to a 16 or 18 person company instead of 20 people. I think in my class 7 or 8 people were originally on the wait list.
Hey @Isaroo I was just thinking about you! Glad to hear you are loving Guthrie! I still wonder “what if”, had my daughter chosen to go there.
Greetings @Isaroo ! So glad you’re chiming in with the inside voice on UofMinn/Guthrie :-). Aren’t you glad all this is behind you?
Only accepted 16 this year?! Extra congrats to @FourStars and @ginaf1102!!
Wow! Holy Cow! I am very proud of her. Thank you, @Twoboysandadog and @Isaroo! We are still reveling in the acceptance, so I am sure more questions will come soon but the only thought now is… Are there any scholarship opportunities for students in the program?
@actingdreams - if it were me, I’d go see a musical. Dear Evan Hanson is on my short list. But there might be a place where you can get discount same-day tickets (perhaps for Saturday) to whatever is available- and only needing 1 ticket could be advantageous. I don’t know NYC well enough to give any further advice on that. Enjoy!!!
IF anyone receives a Pace call or mailing today would you share? Especially which program?
There might be more Chapman admission decisions released today since it was last Wednesday that the first batch went out. Check your portals!
I have an MT daughter at Pace. I know MT does call and I believe it is Amy that does the calling. To the best of my knowledge, no one has been called for MT. Not sure about Acting, she says they are totally separate.
Some tips on seeing shows in NYC… Rush tickets! Showing up at the box office(early) on the day of the show you can often get great deals on tickets (we got tix to Spongebob for $30). Also Todaytix is an app with discounted tickets. For shows like DEH and Hamilton wait until right before the show (couple of hours) and hop on stubhub or vivid. They start dumping the tickets and you can get in for a reasonable price. And if all else fails, TKTS has discounted tickets although they are the most expensive tickets, so you get a great seat but can be 75-100$.
And for Parrotheads there is the new “Escape to Margaritaville”!!!
We really like the TodayTix app too. It’s very easy and you can get inexpensive tickets. And D1 (just moved to NYC!) saw Hello Dolly on Bernadette’s birthday - said it was absolutely fabulous!
