I'm pretty sure I will be attending UCSC next fall, and I was wondering, how are the biking trails on campus, do they lead anywhere cool?

While I don't bike in triathlons or anything like that, it's a big part of my life and I would prefer to continue it at college.

Thanks. :)

I’m a freshman at UCSC currently. I have been without a bike for the first two quarters and it sucks, i would recommend bringing your bike esp if its a big part of your life. The trails are amazing, and even biking downtown or to the beach is really great! I’ve had to borrow other peoples whenever i want to go, but this quarter i’m bringing up my bike! :] You probably won’t bike much on campus though or to classes, as it is a hassle. But it is possible, so you can figure that part out. :]

so as someone that doesnt bike do you recommend bringing one?

If you don’t bike now, I wouldn’t recommend bringing one. The campus itself is all hills, steep hills. It is not exactly a place for amateur riders.

Steep hills = good exercise.

When I started biking – like when I first started learning – I rode up and down hills. It wasn’t too bad.

No no, as someone who doesn’t bike i would still definitely recommend. Biking downtown you don’t even have to pedal. Its so nice and refreshing. Then just put your bike on a bus and take the bus back up to campus. I wouldn’t recommend biking on campus if you’re not a biker, but for downtown and to the beach purposes i would!
