Alright, I am applying as a transfer student for Fall of 09. I was told for the past three weeks that I would know by this Friday. I still have gotten no decisions, will I be getting one soon?

If you were told that you would be getting it this Friday you probably will get it this friday. I am only an ambassador so I have no say on decisions and when you get them. I’m sorry I can not help further

During freshman year, do you think there is time to have a part-time job? If so, are there ample jobs/stores inside the campus or near the campus? I want to make money for stuff like personal things/snowboarding/gym and more.

Shimshimhey,

You should have time to get a part time job with your freshman classes. On-campus jobs are not the easiest thing to get unless you are on federal work study but there is a whole parkway of stores that would probably hire you if you inquired about it. Along Vestal Parkway you have anything from Walmart, to target, to fast food places. You can get to any of these places by bus which is free with your student ID. The way you would go about checking out the jobs (although I don’t know if you can access it yet) is going to binghamton.erecruiting.com and logging in. This is where you would find all jobs both on and off campus that are open at that moment.

hey, i was hoping to get some perspective from a current student, in hopes it will help me make my decision on whether or not i will go to binghamton…i was just wondering from your perspective as a current student, how easy is it for freshman, in general, to adjust to binghamton life?..im a little more on the shy side than outgoing, and i was wondering how easy is it to make friends and get to know people as a freshman?..would you consider binghamton a school that has a lot of clicks or would you say its pretty easy to get a long and make friends with most people?

Wannaknow,

When I came up to bing as a freshman, I had never been away from home before without a family member for more than a week. Adjusting to college was probably one of the hardest things i’ve ever had to do. Binghamton had all the stuff to offer but I just felt out of place and I thought that everyone else had already adjusted to college life. Only later did I learn that most people felt the way I did. Binghamton has its groups of people but it isn’t terrible. People are generally good and get along with others. My advice to you for wherever you go is take your adjustment at your pace. Don’t worry about how long it takes other to adjust to college life. Also remember that people are out there like yourself feeling the same way so the best thing to do is just try to get involved. Take baby steps if needed and believe me, you will make friends in a heartbeat if you try!

hey, I am currently enrolled in the Watson school as a freshmen, I was wondering if you knew the Watson course load and how hard it is, how hard is it to get a 3.8 GPA+ in Watson compared to Harpurs? I want to know this because I am thinking about the possibility of transferring to another college. Also, I’m not sure if I want to do business or engineering, so should I call Admissions to ask if its possible to transfer into Harpurs before my first semester starts? Also, is it possible to get a dual degree in both my current major, Computer Engineering, and Economics in Harpurs, and if it is possible, how soon can I start taking the courses in Harpurs needed for a dual degree. Thanks!

Azetab,

I don’t know how hard watson is as I am a harpur student. I also know that you can not transfer schools until after your first semester but it should be easier getting into harpur from Watson. Also, yes you can get a dual degree within two schools and you can start taking the classes as early as freshman year.

fyi re dual degrees – [Harpur College Academic Advising :: Ask an Advisor / FAQ](http://harpur-advising.binghamton.edu/faq/faq.cgi?answer=1133813335)
important to note – if you are getting a dual degree (ie a major in two different schools) you need more credits to graduate than if you were getting a single degree.

Hey, Jana, thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my question and helping me out. I just finished putting in the deposit for Binghamton so who knows if I’ll see you around campus this coming fall semester. Thanks again for the imput.

It my pleasure. If you are interested in becoming a student ambassador yourself please email us at busap@binghamton.edu and I’ll give you more information!

one more question for now, how soon can we get a bing edu e-mail acct.?

As soon as you pay your deposit you should be able to find your email address by going to BUBrain.binghamton.edu and signing in with your B-number and pin (which you should have gotten from admissions early on). There should be an option that says forward email. I believe that once you pay you should be able to access your email account.

what’s the website to search for classes (time and professors) for next fall?

If you go to BUBrain.binghamton.edu, and log in you can look up courses for the different semesters. It should be under registration and look up classes.

hii, I’m a little worried about orientation because I’m going away to another country for the month of July, and plan to attend the Aug. orientation. But is that bad? since all the other freshmen who attend the July one get dibs on the classes? Does it make a difference on which one to attend?

During orientation, the spots available in classes are split up evenly so all members of all the diff sessions get equal opportunity to get into the classes. You should be fine.

Hi BingAmb Is there anyway I can ask for an advice why I got rejected? Is there anyway to contact admissions committee or should I call admissions counselor? I am planning to apply to SOM for the 2010 Spring. I really want to improve myself during the summer and I need reasons that made me less competitive than the other applicants. Also, how many accounting transfers did SOM accepted this semester?

Capwoo,

Again I do not know numbers so you will have to contact either SOM or admissions. As to why you got rejected I can’t say as well as I do not look at any of the applications. Please contact your admissions counselor (the counselor for your region). If you do not know which admissions counselor is yours please go to [Binghamton University - Undergraduate Admissions - Contact & Meet Us](http://www2.binghamton.edu/admissions/contact-and-meet-us/index.html). On the right side of the page is the counselors links and where they represent across the country/world. I can not guarantee that they will be much help as it was just very competitive this year. Sorry for no real answer.

Did anybody received postcards with regards of Orientation Days for this summer?
