I received a letter asking me to apply for the JES Scholarship, and I am really interested. I want to major in Biology, and they do have a nice program. I was just wondering how common it was to take science classes at Harvey Mudd--it's within the same consortium but not the shared Biology department. If anyone knows about it, please let me know!

I think it's possible to take biology classes at Harvey Mudd (I'm a human biology major at Scripps through Joint Science). However, I don't know specifics because their science sequence is different than that at Scripps. Your best bet would probably be to email someone in the biology department at Mudd (the chairman or some other high-ranking figure) and ask them. If you have any other questions about Scripps or Joint Science, let me know!

Thanks for replying, zeusviolin! Love your screenname, by the way (I play flute). How is the Joint Science program by itself? Do you get a lot of research opportunities? I'm actually interested more in Neuroscience, but I haven't contacted the person they indicated on the website.

I love Joint Science! While it's not a research powerhouse, there are plenty of research opportunities available. There also aren't an abundance of really advanced classes in certain fields (such as physics or chemistry) there are certainly plenty of courses in biology. I don't know much about the neuroscience program, but you should contact Newton Copp (I believe he's the department head).
