BJU... *** kind of place is this??

LOL *** kinda place is this.. anyone here who goes here?

This is BoB Jones University (<- HAHAHAH i wouldn't wanna go anywhere where some guy named bob created)

got this from one of the pron threads here LOL

Residence Hall Life
A student must live in one of the University residence halls unless he is living with parents or other close relatives (approved by the Dean of Men's or Dean of Women's office), is 23 years old or older, is married and over the age of 20, or is a graduate student.

^so first of all if you are normal freshman u can't even run away from these horrible rules

Freshmen may request a roommate. Other students are allowed one request for a friend to be in their prayer group, on their hall, or in their residence hall, but not in their room.

For the sake of accountability, students must "check out" when they leave the campus. Students gradually acquire more freedom in this area as they become upperclassmen.

^ CHECK OUT??? What are they? 5?

Each night all students meet for prayer, either as a room or together with several other rooms.

^ eeekkk... even as a christian that's not up my alley

Students are required to be in their own rooms and quiet at 11 pm. All lights must be out by midnight.

^once again are ppl 5?

Students are required to keep their rooms clean and neat.

^.... =_= it's there own freakin' freedom

Rooms are inspected daily.

^............. =_ = WTTFFFFF???!! They are like Nazis!

Facilities and furnishings:
Laundry facilities are provided.
All rooms are furnished with twin-sized beds, dressers, desks, closets, cupboards, sink, telephone, and blinds.

Computer network and high-speed Internet access is available in each residence hall room.

An email account is provided for each student. Due to the flood of objectionable content coming through outside email services, students may use only this filtered campus email system.

^ so people can't use yahoo, msn, or gmail etc... UH I have like 3-5email accounts (that i actually use... plus 50 i never use) so this would kill me

All wireless access to the Internet is forbidden since all Internet use must go through the University's filtered access.

^BECUZ YOU GOTTA SEE IF THEY ARE WATCHING PRON OR NOT!!

What to Bring
List of what to bring
Students may bring automobiles to campus. However, underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores) who are under 21 years old may use their vehicles only to drive home and for extension.

^ uh it's my car... and i can do whatever i want. =_= Unless the school provides ppl with their cars they should ****

Cell phones are permitted. Students will be instructed in cell phone etiquette.

^=_=;;;; cellphone etiquette....

What Not to Bring
Posters of movie and music stars and fashion models are not permitted. The subjects of personal photos should exhibit the modesty and appropriate physical contact we expect from our students.

^So what other kind of posters are there? Well i think i'll take my SOUTH PARK poster with "OMG U KILLED KENNY" tat's not a movie

Music must be compatible with the University's music standards:
New Age, jazz, rock, and country music is not permitted.
Contemporary Christian music is not permitted (e.g., Michael W. Smith, Stephen Curtis Chapman, WOW Worship, and so forth).

^i listen to foreign music and that's not on the list haha But seriously, listen to whatever **** music u want to hear

Televisions and DVD/videocassette players are not permitted in the residence halls; computer DVD players may not be used to view movies.

^ One solution. Video IPODS. then you know waht? watch porn on it just to **** them off in class. Once again, their own freedom

You may not possess or play computer and video games rated T, M, or A or having elements of blood and gore, sensual or demonic themes, or featuring suggestive dress, bad language, or rock music.

^ No rock music? SO no more guilty gear or Final Fantasy??? aww. Geez, every ****in' game is rated T M A these days. =_=

Due to space considerations, appliances such as mini-refrigerators and microwaves are not permitted in residence hall rooms. A refrigerator for medical-related needs and microwaves are provided in each residence hall.

====___===== WTTFFF.

Residence hall students may not watch videos above a G rating when visiting homes in town and may not attend movie theaters.
All weapons must be turned in for storage.

^ HAHAHAHA NOTHING ABOVE G RATING??? guess they gotta jack off to bambi or whatever floats their boat. they won't even let them goto movie theaters because it's evil....??? My pastor loves watching movies though. hm

Trigger locks are required for pistols. Fireworks are not permitted on campus.

HAHAHA Why did they bring weapons in the first place

Seriously who chooses to go and apply to this ****in' college? I would die..... I mean i know christian universities and most of them are not this bad....

I love how after all their nazi rules they're like "But bring your gun, we'll store it for you!". Rednecks.

sigh Bob Jones. If you check out the rest of the site, you can read their dress code etc... it's incredibly sexist, not to mention restrictive. Good for a laugh, though.

hey no one forces you to go there, it is pretty psycho though!

whatever floats your boat i guess. The people there are over 18 so they choose to live that life it is their choice.

yeah they're not allowed to wear Abercrombie & Fitch and stuff. haha.

Some people are uber conservative and they actually feel better in a place that requires them to live their preferred lifestyle. I, on the other hand, personally desire a place that allows diversity and people to make their own choices and learn to cope with others having the same option.

the people who are the level of conservatism are very few..and clearly need some clinical help.

its paradise!

haha omg that is the funniest thing I have ever read in my entire life! haahahahhaha LMAO damn

hmm gets better

Student Expectations
Dress Code for Men
General Dress

Hair must be cut in a traditional, conservative style–not shaved, spiked, tangled, or shelved. It may not be colored or highlighted.

^ but what if they had chemo and had no more hair? OMG THEIR HAIR IS HIGHLIGHTED/NOT THERE/COLORED THEY ARE NOT CHRISTIANS!!

Sideburns should not extend past the middle of the ear. Men are expected to remain clean-shaven.

^Jesus had a beard. sniff.

Abercrombie & Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of antagonism to the name of Christ and an unusual display of wickedness in their promotions. In protest, we will not allow articles displaying their logos to be worn, carried, or displayed (even if covered or masked in some way).

^HAHA i just had to laugh at this one

Dress Code for Women
Classroom/general dress consists of a dress or top and skirt; however, pants may be worn for some recreational activities. Shorts may never be worn outside the residence halls and fitness center.

^OMG SHORTS!!! SHORTS THEY ARE EVIL! Personally alot of girls wear jeans/pants more than skirts

Loose-fitting jeans may be worn between women's residence halls and when participating in activities where the durability of the fabric is important, such as skiing and ice-skating.

So if ppl can wear really tight pants where their belly fat is all sticking out????

Hairstyles should be neat, orderly, and feminine. Avoid cutting-edge fads and cuts so short that they take on a masculine look.
Students are not permitted to get tattoos. Excessive makeup is not permitted. Earrings may be worn only in the lobe of the ear (maximum of two matched sets).

^ So if i'm walking around with clown make up they are going to kick me out of school?? And once again what if you had a surgery and got your head shaved or something???

WOAHHh I just had the weridest feeling reading that. I think I may have just time traveled back to the 1950s.

OMG whoever goes to that school is ing crazy. *? Are those kind of rules even allowed? Can we challenge this in the Supreme Court? I thought post-secondary institutions were supposed to the land of gender equality and diversity. WOAH.

Yes, those rules are allowed. It's not a public school; no government has anything to do with these rules, and no one is forced to enroll there. The kind of people who go there are the kind of people who would prefer that the 1950's lasted forever.

Also note that BJU had a prohibition on interracial dating until a few years ago. Then-Governor Bush created some controversy by speaking there during the 2000 campaign.

BTW, there was a thread on CC a while back about uber-conservative Christian schools like this. I seem to recall it becoming somewhat clear (especially if you followed links to forums for disenchanted school alums) that those sorts of rules governing all aspects of behavior are often broken. Surreptitiously, of course.

hahahahahahahahahaha

this is too funny.

bobjones u is moderate compared to Pensecola Christian College

<a href="http://www.pcci.edu/%5B/url%5D">http://www.pcci.edu/</a></p>

<a href="http://www.pensacolachristiancollege.com/why.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.pensacolachristiancollege.com/why.htm</a></p>

handbook
<a href="http://www.pensacolachristiancollege.com/resources/pcchandbook2001.txt%5B/url%5D">http://www.pensacolachristiancollege.com/resources/pcchandbook2001.txt</a></p>

*Students may only stay off campus overnight with
parents, grandparents, married aunts and uncles, or
married brothers and sisters.

Women students under 21 must have parental
permission to go off campus with anyone other tan PCC
students or staff members an off-campus pass must be
obtained in situations which require parental
permission.

Males and females go to DIFFERENT beachs that are pre approved

Ah, you beat me to it, citygirlsmom! I was just going to post those links. I am SO glad I don't go to either of those schools, but to each his own...

no dating without a chaperone off campus

no going to the movies, unless it is G rated

this is not college, they don't want people to think for themselves

oh yeah, they have other students spy on you. and if oyu are "bad" which can mean having a poster that has a man and a woman together who are not married- so no Bush and Condi pictures....if you do bad, you have to follow a mentor around for a day, sleep on their floor and no one is allowed to talk to you

and the school is not accredited but they hide that fact

here is an old thread
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=15****&highlight=pensacola+christian+college%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=15****&highlight=pensacola+christian+college</a></p>

ps they think BJU is too liberal

Oh curse word no...

I looked up this University and they actually segregate their Theology majors and Theology grad program according to GENDER!

Man, I do a double major in Lit and Theology and I live in the Bible belt and I have never heard of such a thing as segregating certain courses of study by gender! I am a lady who does the online degree option at her University because I did not want to move! My University is a sister school to Harding and David Liscomb, among others...none of those schools segregate things according to gender! Good heavens!

Lawd.

They seem to segregate everything by gender to a really far out extent...

All the ladies residence halls are monitored by video cameras and the ones for the fellows have student id swipe card access.

And they have a club for future ministers which is only for fellows!

OMG

BTW

This BJU is not a formally accredited school. In the south, the accrediting agency is run by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools which is headquartered in Georgia. All those schools, for example in the SEC and whatnot are accredited by the SACS. This school is whack if they are not SACS affiliated.

"Mixed-gender interaction has the strictest rules. Stairwells and elevators are segregated by gender, members of the opposite sex are not permitted to touch in any way (even shaking hands is against the rules), mixed-gender meetings (including off-campus) are forbidden unless a PCC chaperon is present, and staring into the eyes of a member of the opposite sex, called by students "eye kissing", "optical intercourse", or "making eye babies", is discouraged by the administration."

"Making eye babies" rotfl!!!

This reminds me of a story:
I was taking the airport shuttle with some people from my school. A girl from Mississippi was sitting behind me, and I overheard her talking about her friends — a twin brother and sister who went to a very conservative Christian college (not BJ, but similar). Whenever one sibling wanted to visit the other's dorm room, he or she had to sign in at the front desk. They were allowed a maximum of thirty minutes together in the same room, and they had to keep the door open the entire time so a monitor could come by every few minutes and check to make sure they weren't doing anything "naughty." These people were SIBLINGS! Unbelievable.

LOL

"Optical Intercourse"

Shucks, man, I guess I have optical intercourse with everyone I meet because I always look people in the eye.

Man, I guess the folks at blw j*,I mean Bob Jones University, would think me bi or something.
