Books for SAT tests?

I'm taking

Already took:
Chemistry - took it in June, but I doubt I got an 800; I'll be retaking it most likely; also taking AP Chem next year
World History - failed it REALLY bad; our World History teachers don't cover enough, and we don't offer WHAP)

Probably June '11 tests for all of the following:
Spanish - just finished Spanish 3; taking Spanish 4 Honors next year)
Math II - finished Alg2/Trig, taking Pre-Calc H next year)
US History - taking APUSH next year with an excellent teacher)

Which books should I get for these subjects?
I already have Kaplan and Barron's for Chem, and PR & Kaplan for USH.

Also, should I take these tests earlier in the year?
I heard Spanish was easy, and Math relatively so, so maybe take those sooner?
The general advice I hear is to take Subject tests at the end of the year so you know the most then. True?

Get AMSCO for USH. It’s what the APUSH people use.

Take the tests when you feel prepared.

Great, I already have AMSCO and Crash Course for USH :D

Sounds good then.

You should take a subject test on the May/June test dates at the end of a year in which you’ve taken a course that corresponds to the test. (Math II- Pre-Cal, Bio- Bio, etc.) This is only recommended of course, but if you prepare yourself well enough before an exam you should take it when you feel comfortable with it. I find this especially true for US History, because you’ll want to take the subject test when you’re already studying for the AP exam, or just after you take the exam.

Many people recommend Barron’s for Math II, but you’ll also want to use the tests on Sparknotes and in the Official Collegeboard Subject Tests Guide.

Are you sure Spanish is easy? It is taken by mostly native speakers (which I believe makes the curve harsher), so unless you’re a native speaker or are very proficient at the language, it is usually not in your best interest to take it.

I think I’ll use Barron’s, been getting for recommendations for that over PR.

Spanish’s difficulty was just something a few students at my school commented on. I’ll look more into that.
