Books/movies you thought were stupid until you actually saw/read them?

Harry Potter - Teacher would always read it to us in the 3rd grade. Didn't know what all the excitement was about. All I knew was that it was about some bloke could talk to snakes and that was about it. Hated the series until i saw the first movie. Then I started reading the series.

Percy Jackson And the lightning thief- When I saw the movie trailer I almost busted out laughing. It looked soo stupid and ridiculous and I was like "Who would pay to see that Pg crap?" Then I read the book and I slapped that thought out of my mind.

The Hunger Games- The plot sounded stupid to me, then I borrowed the book from my friend to see what all the fuss was about. Then immediately bought the entire series on ebay.

The Matrix
Pulp Fiction.

Lord of the Rings :slight_smile: both books and movies.

Naruto…

/nerd

Justin Bieber (not a book or movie but similar) i thought I would hate him so I turned the music off whenever one of his songs came on but I started listening and now I love him.

The Catcher in the Rye. Oh wait, I read that and I still thought it was stupid.

@Ifax108

Many consider it a classic because the issues that the protagonist goes through still hold up to today, even though it was written long ago in a different era.

No matter how good of a teen you are, there is atleast one issue holden goes through that you share.

As for prose, yeah, there are a lot better written books out there.

Twilight. My friends and I made fun of two of my friends way back in the seventh grade after Twilight had just come out. We were like “This is sooo stupid. A vampire playing baseball in the woods?! Come on!” And then in about the ninth grade, before the movies had even been cast, I picked up the book one day because I was stuck at Barnes and Noble for an extra couple of hours and became obsessed with them. They were really good reads. And then I picked up the fourth book on midnight… and that was probably the worst book I had ever read in my entire life and the only reason I finished it was because I was so invested in the series at that point. Anyways, that book ruined the rest of the series for me, and now I think Twilight is stupid again… But yeah.

I hate anything directed by Akira Kurosawa because everyone watches him to say “I love Foreign films.”

Movies: Godspell, Titanic, and The Proposal.
