<p>I LOVED Heart of DArkness and anything by OConnor (ie Wise Blood what was it "the church without God"? sounds like th echurch of Whats Happinin Now an old Carlin? routine) did you see in that cool christmas movie..A Christmas Story that when the kid came back in the fantasy sequence to torment his parents for making him eat soap for swearing....he was justlike the preacher in wise Blood???) poisonwood bible ,,, Barbara Kinsolving?...mmmm not a fan ... for the real deal on marginal american subculture I highly recommend the New Hampshire novels of Ernie Hebert... like "Dogs of March" and "A Little More Than Kin ".,..Dogs of March kept me awake at night...
