General comments
SO excited! For those of you deferred, don’t lose hope! More importantly, do not tie your admission decisions to your self worth. For prospective students, take risks with your essays and be unapologetically you!

@Needscollegenow

It’s pronounced ga-bell-eee

Named for Mario Gabelli, the founder of the Gabelli Mutual Fund investment company.

It’s by invitation only. Only 15 awarded total. Process for selection and panel interviews. One half of one percent of the admitted/attending subset considered. It’s the longest of long shots. But someone’s got to win one. So Heck, might as well be you. Best of luck!!

@Oneiota where did you hear about the 6.5% acceptance rate? And that was for this year’s EA, I’m assuming?

My son didn’t get it. I said he got 3 years of housing, not 4.

@collegemomjam No, @Oneiota must have intended that post for some other thread.

I don’t know the number, as they typically reveal it several weeks later, but there is zero chance that they had a 6.5% EA acceptance rate. My best estimate would be 25%-29%.

Same here. Deferred with relatively the same situation… not sure what the deal is but I’m not getting to upset about it.
Congrats to all that made it!

D was deferred. 3.86UW, 5.12W, top 10% of class, 33 ACT (superscore), AP Scholar w/Distinction, AICE Diploma, 13 APs, ok essay, very good supplement, at least 1 excellent rec letter (didn’t get to see the 2nd), average EC’s. 200+ hours volunteering…

Hoping for better news in the spring.

Accepted - MCAS

8 APs so far, scored all 5s
Good ECs, with a particular focus on a musical instrument at a high/competitive level

Good essays but probably could have been better

I was accepted EA to the Morrisey School of Arts and Sciences as an Econ Major.

GPA: 3.96 (Unweighted)
SAT: 1380 (660 RC, 720 Math)
SAT IIs: 590 Literature, 610 Math I, 690 US History
APs: US Gov., APUSH, Stat, Calc AB

My school has a very close relationship with BC due to our Jesuit identity. BC tends to be more lenient with students from my high school because of this. 8 boys have already been admitted and only 1 was deferred.

Deferred

SAT 1460
ACT 33
Average 99.7 weighted
Full IB diploma candidate
Subject test Bio 750; World Hist 800; Chem 750.
XC/Track athlete, 11 seasons in high school so far
Team captain, MVP, All league, All division and All County for athletics and academics.
Eagle Scout and Senior patrol Leader
Senior Server/trainer/Master of Ceremonies in my parish

Scholar Athlete Leadership Club
Swim Instructor for 3 years
My EC’s are limited because my commitment for sports is 6-7 days a week for the majority of the school year.
My essays could have been better, I was finishing my eagle project paperwork and applying to college at the sametime

If they selected 3170 students like last year and deferred most of the rest it would be 19% accepted out of the 16400

Do u mind if I ask how you’re sure of this? This would mean I’m in the top 15% of applicants but I seriously doubt this is true by reading some of the stats on here. Would there be any other factors that would give me 4 years? Just curious

I got accepted into the Carroll school of management.
Top 4% in class. 1480. 700+ hours community service. NHS, AP scholar with honor. Coach youth football. Referee multiple sports
