Boston University RD 2023

@brownpaper21 personally I think the transfer is better because it’s an acceptance albeit a delayed one. There’s no guarantee that you would get off the waitlist and then it’s a straight out rejection. Just MHO ?

rejected

accepted to CFA (anyone else? ) with 30k in aid!
ACT: 31
UW GPA: 3.9
8 APs, lots of community service, sports all four years of high school

My daughter was accepted to the College of Fine Arts for Painting.

@SJ2727 I think they offer a lot of students transfer options to lower their overall admit rate so that they move up the college rankings. It kinda sucks but that’s how they do it I guess

I was accepted but didn’t receive a dime in financial aid. Safe to say I won’t be attending if tuition is roughly 74k per year…

I’m in the same boat. No financial aid. Completely ruined my joy in having gotten accepted. Really sucks. Best of luck to your daughter in making a final decision.

1320 sat international accepted
Why is it so expensive? ;/

@JarenVor23 obviously, thanks. I am fully aware of the fact it’s not only about stats. But when your son has worked very hard and has numerous accomplishments and recommendations (global leadership, sports, grades, job, eagle scout, etc). I am allowed to be sad for him when he is denied admissions.

@collegebound326 BU is a private university and receives no direct government funding.

@TomSrOfBoston so would you say a waitlist is better than CGS? Is CGS third tier acceptance and does it come lower than being waitlisted?

Chicagomom, your daughter got into Northwestern!! BU and Northeastern are missing out on such a smart girl! Encourage her to go to NW; actually NW is so much better

@Dixiemom1974 if you are accepted to CGS you are a BU student, albeit a semester delayed. There is no guarantee that anyone will be accepted off the waitlist. If you want to think of a “pecking order” of decisions it would be:
1-September entry to your chosen program
2-January entry in CGS
3&4-Waitlist = Guaranteed Sophomore Transfer

Even if not offered Guaranteed Sophomore Transfer a student can always apply to transfer and with a high GPA (3.5+) and the appropriate coursework chances of admission are high.

@goatgal49 What the adcoms at BU and Northeastern are thinking is that given a Northwestern or other top 20 acceptance the student would likely attend there. So why “waste” an acceptance on a student who in all probability will not attend. It’s called yield protection.

I got into Fordham too
BU or Fordham?
Economics and Finance

Do all students who apply directly to CGS get accepted?

@flower123456 Definitely no.

@collegebound326 i’m going to fordham next year!!

Just wondering where you can take the classes. ?

I’ve been trying to find fall 2019 opportunities for studying physics or engineering for freshmen. No luck so far. Seems opportunities are for sophomores and above. Thinking of looking for research opportunities.

Bummer! That’s SO hard! You are smart and have great stats! Good luck!
