Boston University Regular Decision 2025: Discussion & Decisions

Is everyone who is rejected offered transfer

No. Most are not but if they thought you were competitive, they gave your the guaranteed transfer. Some people they just recommended transferring if they want.

Is this guaranteed transfer?

yes i think so

How do you know the difference

Another point to note is that if you accept the guaranteed transfer option you are under NO OBLIGATION to actually transfer. If you are happy at the other college you can continue there.

This is good information. My DD got into Newhouse as well. We’re driving to Syracuse tomorrow morning and then flying out to Boston on Wednesday. Two different campuses with entirely different vibes.

While the city of Syracuse is very lacking compared to the city of Boston you will see that the Newhouse facilities at SU are amazing. The complex consists of three modern buildings. BU COM is housed in a renovated commercial building built circa 1920.

Wait until May 1, then check the colleges still seeking freshman. See this article for spring 2020–an unusual year. I’m having a bit of trouble finding direct link to organization that maintains the annual list. You might want to also check out Truman State.

I received the same letter. I read in frequently asked questions and understood that we don’t need to reapply but just to provide the documents supporting the documents with 3.0 gpa at any accredited school. I didn’t see anything about any merit scholarship provided to students with NMF status. Would like to hear of anyone know if transfer students qualify for any merit scholarships if its guaranteed admission?

thanks a ton

An important question that you will want to address with BU.

My feeling is that college and universities are buying your GPA and test scores for the (flawed) USNWR rankings when they provide merit. So, I would guess perhaps not - BUT I DO NOT KNOW. Only BU can tell you, and would be nice to have any reply from them in writing.

also applied for biomedical engineering and was admitted to school of engineering

did anyone not get an email saying there’s a status update?

did not get email but status was updated in portal

Yes, BU needed the first choice to be listed by March 1st to receive the NMF presidential scholarship.

You write a letter of continued intense and express that you want to be in this environment more than the ones they assume you are applying to and explain why. Sometimes it works- sometimes it doesn’t. This is a business for them and not at all about the kids who are applying.
Previous Yield determines how they act, in many cases, unfortunately
