hey, so ive been to a few dining halls... i live off campus so i haven't eat on campus much... but i was wondering.. what is everyone's favorite on campus dining service? any suggestions?

this is probably a stupid question: big red bucks: is it 500 / semester or for the whole year?

Trillium food is ok, i've never had kock out meals though. The place looks like a million bucks though. Also, seats are usually hard to come by as people tend to eat their food and then stick around for and hour or two socializing.

For meal plan stuff, i go to Appel, RPU, or Okenshields.

Did you just recommend Okensh.its? It's not so good according to popular knowledge (...and it's nicknamed Okensh.its lol). Altho I do admit I've never been there.

why is trillium on there? the food is overpriced, and the quality is not that good. plus, it's not a dining hall.

my own ranking for dining halls...at least for dinner:

Appel=RPCC>Okenshields (on good nights)>Risley>West Campus dining (maybe Becker>Alice Cook>Bethe)>Okenshields(on bad nights)

Appel and RPCC are clearly the best. Then the West Campus ones are pretty much the same, except Becker has better "main" food (Becker beans are scary though), Alice Cook has more side things and soy milk, and Bethe has flavored cream cheese. Risley has a great grill and stir fry station, but other than that it's pretty blah.

for A la carte places, Statler is top of the list. Then maybe Cascadeli, Ivy Room, Hughes Dining, and Trillium.

while appel and rpu focus on a huge variety of foods, okenshields brings in a very diverse and ethnic menu. Lunch isn't nearly as good, hence why the oken****s name. But dinner on a good night, it's great, you'll get foods that RPU and Appel wouldn't serve - and I'm always into something I've never tried. Also, another perk = you don't have to deal with an entire dining hall of freshmen.

I agree with Aloe's list of dining halls, fyi.

for breakfast, Hughes is the best. That one dude can cook, pancakes are fantastic, massive --- and damn cheap. I've had good lunch there as well, but the menu is certain not as diverse as say the Ivy Room.

I feel that Trillium is popular more because it's a social hangout - it's not a 'dining hall' per se, but the food is the most "dining hall" like of them all. The exception are the burgers, I prefer the actual burgers at RPU more, but Trillium has some nice options and toppings. Every time I leave Trillium, I always wonder what was it that made me think "this is the day I'll get food worth the price".
