mm mm good

well, I'm about to finish a very tasty bowl of orzo soup. (basically chicken soup w. orzo pasta, for those of you who are deprived) Anyway, I was wondering. What are your thoughts on the food at Cornell? Where's the best places to get it? Is it always crowded? Anything else...

This is really good soup.

Cornell has amazing food. Anywhere you go it will be wonderful. Appel and RPU are the most popular, but Risley has a great atmosphere. It is pretty much the best food ever...even the new engineering building had a little food court with the flakiest and freshest crossants ever and amazing parfaits.

Good
Trillium
Ivy Room
Statler

Mediocre
Appel
Alice Cook House
Mattin's
RPU

Bad
Bear Nasties
Okenshields

bear nasties is not bad, but it's not good, and it's so convenient.

I would rank appel as awesome. and i love ivy room. the statler place "terrace" is good too.

lol I like how all of pessimist's responses are pessimistic.

I personally like Okenshiled's. Sometimes, i can be hit or miss since it's a relatively small place, but they never fail to deliver something unique.

RPU is amazing.
Appel is good.
Risley has the best stir fry on Earth (thanks to Cece!!).
Jansen's is ok, good chicken fingers.
Alice Cook/Becker are also ok, pretty basic dining halls.

Ivy room is also very good, but it can get expensive.
Trillium is ok, seems very pricey for what you get.

As a whole, Cornell food is the best.

yeah we're ranked like 2 or 3 nationally in food or something silly like that haha

My only complaint about the dining hall food (specifically Appel and RPU) is that the choice gets repetitive. The food isn't bad, but by the end of the semester I am kind of tired of eating the same food every week. I feel like you have to make an effort to put variety in, b/c if you were to eat at the same dining hall every day you would get sick of it.

However, sometimes they do offer something new and that is nice.

Overall the food is very good, but, in my opinion, repetitive.

I'd agree with psquared's response...living on West Campus I've got a bit less to work with, but sometimes I make the effort to head up to Appel for a change, or to Okenshields or the Ivy Room...Trillium is a must any day I'm on campus for classes. If you switch it up you won't be disappointed.

I don't really know if I could say Cook and Becker are any one thing...some days/nights the food is amazing and some days it's just so-so. Hit or miss. And Jansen's gets old reeeeeeallly fast...haven't been there in awhile because of that.

yes true, sometimes repetitive, but it's the same for food at home if you think about it. that's why we eat out on occasion.

I agree it gets repetitive, but am actually happy with the variety. You're garunteed hamburger type food, salads, pizza, sandwiches, waffles, cereal, some sort of american food, pasta, and soup at every meal, and chinese at every meal. Sometimes theres mexican, too.

"I like how all of pessimist's responses are pessimist"

Realism is closer to pessimism than it is to optimism.

Pessimist: A quote for you!!
A pessimist sees obstacles in every opportunity.
An optimist sees opportunity in every obstacle.

Panantha, what opportunities in life are without obstacles? I would rather see obstacles and prepare to counter them than to be caught off-guard. Wouldn't you?

the basement of the statler is always good. they have the best wraps and salads.
