deadline in two days! i really hope i get in...

Good luck!

good luck, celticsfan! i'm very positive of your chances of getting in :)

represent. i'm applying too

did you write out your essays by hand?

i was thankfully able to obtain a copy of adobe acrobat pro so i could type on the PDF form and then print it out. my handwriting is dreadful and could have gotten me rejected in itself.

I'm applying!

I typed all of my essays and printed them on a separate page. I went way over 500 words on the "tell us about yourself" prompt, but I kept it to one typed page.

yeah transfers. woot woot. I typed and attached mine. I have a mac so downloading is messed up.

my case is exactly the same as missfiske. what are ya'lls stats

I'm a freshman and I'm looking to transfer for sophomore status in Fall '08.

CURRENT COLLEGE: US News Top 15 (known for grade deflation)
GPA: 3.85
COURSES: Challenging (1st semester: 3 upper-level classes, 1 intro-level class for major requirements / 2nd semester: 3 upper-level classes, 2 intro-level classes for major/distribution requirements)
Extra Curric: Club sports, student government position, community service, random interest clubs, sorority pledge

HIGH SCHOOL: Top prep school, B+/A- grades, unranked, but ~ top 15%
SAT: 2100 + 690's on all SATII's
AP: 3 5's, 2 4's
EXTRA CURRIC: two varsity teams, published science research, president of several clubs and community service organizations, student government position all 4 years, member of selective a capella group... list continues, but I don't think it's much of a factor for transfer admissions. I earned a bunch of awards too, but I doubt they mean much.

does anyone know if they give preference to applicants based on which semester they are applying for? brown says that there are historically more seats available in the spring, but does this mean that applicants who select the spring term will be taken to fill those positions before extra fall term applicants?

^^^^^^i would imagine the "extra" fall term applicants are out of luck. otherwise, they would keep themselves in a defeating cycle of overloaded applicants each semester....

I know there is a box you can check that says you would like to be considered for another semester. so I hope they will consider me for both.

I turned in my application on Weds. Applying as junior in fall 2008

what majors are you all applying for? I'm a Modern Culture and Media major.

applied mathematics - economics.

Art History. I'm going to the post office now..

I'm guessing your post office is open later than my town (our's closes at like 4 pm. lame small town)

Phew! Just in time.
I bet Providence is also a small town... and wonder how students spend their pastime.

haha. providence is the third largest city in new england (176,000 people in the city itself) and 36th nation wide in metropolitan population. it's not new york, but it's no town either.

as far as downtime, i also wonder?

LOL I'm hopeless! Actually, I haven't even been to RI before.

Providence is going through a revitalization right now. It used to have one of the country's highest poverty rates because it was all factories but it's a lot better than even seven years ago. It's also centrally located between ny, boston, the cape and rhode island/shoreline ct beaches. the jazz, and film festivals are hot too. I live only about 1 hour- 1:20 minutes away so I know about it really well
