i called today because i had special circumstances and got in!!!!!!!!!

cool ................................... boo villanova

congratulations boovillanova!

quite a few people already in!

Does anybody have an exact date as to when we receive our decision? I'm going to be screwed for housing at my current school if i don't receive my decision by the 20th.

I hope "early next week" is Monday. :)

I'm tempted to call admissions with a made up reason why I need my decision over the phone tomorrow... but we're almost there. Another few days isn't so bad, I guess.

boovillanova that is really cool! Congratulations! By the way would you mind posting your stats/any advice you could give to future transfer students?

i called and was told decisions are being mailed tomorrow and will be avaliable by phone on Wednesday

Thanks for the update.

I am beyond nervous.

thanks a lot for the update!

do you think we can call Wed morning?

by the way, thanks for sharing the information

Im gonna try early in the morning on Wednesday. If you wait until the middle of the day there's no telling how long youll be put on hold

my stat's aren't really that great, i think what got me in was the fact that i had been e-mailing the transfer admission guy for some time and i think my dean of students filled out my form really, really well (i'm not that great in terms of academics but, and i know this sounds weird, i think to brown i made up for it in terms of personality) but here goes!

i just finished my fresh year at villanova - i spent first semester in the business school and second semester i switched to engineering. i think being a female engineer helped me out some, and i did really well in engineering (i was the only person in my physics class to get perfect scores on the first two tests and my prof sent a letter telling brown that)

i had a 3.95 first semester in college in villanova honors business (but honestly, villanova is ****ty and good grades there aren't that impressive in my opinion)
750 M, 750 V, 790 W
i had ok grades in high school (4.1 GPA but i wasn't in top 20%, and i had two C's in math despite getting a 5 on BC calc and a 790 math SAT 2) --- i didn't really try that hard, but i always participated in class and was known around my all-girls school -- i was great friends with my dean (which was as much because of awards as it was because of skipping school, getting detention for uniform violations, etc) but everyone at my school wished me well and was upset that i didn't get in anywhere good from high school.

i was lucky enough to have an OK from the transfer guy to send supplemental recs in -- since i didnt have any science or math teachers in college first semester and i was applying as an engineer, i had my math teacher in high school (who taught me for 3 years) send a rec and i also had my chem teacher (who was my homeroom teacher for 3 years) send another.

good luck to everyone, i know from personal experience that anyone who has tolerated a year at a school they don't like deserves to get in wherever they want, if only because no one knows perseverance like someone who has been away from home at a place they truly can't stand. i'm sure everything will turn out well in the end!!!!!

does anyone else find it kind of weird that brown would send letters on tuesday yet let us call on wednesday? It seems like they would be making a lot more work for the admissions office if they had to give 995 decisions over the phone, because I doubt everyone would get their letters by wed. Part of me is hoping that we'll get them today. Maybe im just over-analyzing.

amen boo villanova! that is great! i am happy for you.

I know what youre saying but I dont think Brown is expecting 900+ phone calls tomorrow. Being able to call wasnt well-advertised or anything. I doubt even half of the 900 applicants will be calling. I think calling is mainly for people who didnt get decisions early but may not be home this week or something like that. but it surely is open to everyone

thanks everyone for the congratulations! i was reading the stanford thread and a few people were being very cocky about getting in and a lot of posts were just plain rude... glad to know that people headed for brown (fingers crossed for everyone else) are way nicer!!

I heard decisions were being mailed in the morning [Wednesday]...

hmmm

My status on the website just changed today (now have the decision button like others), so they probably finished reviewing all applications today (Tuesday).

I suspect that anyone whose decision status changed to the link is getting in, mostly because mine still says "Admissions decisions are not currently available" or whatever and I am 99.99% sure I'm not getting in.

where can you check this?
