Brown 2008 Transfer Applicants

selfservice.brown.edu

Admission decisions for transfer applicants are not available on the web. Check the Undergraduate Admission web site for updated information about transfer mailing dates.

kisskisskiss, is this what you see?

No, there isn't even a link. The "Application Summary" page has a table that says "Application Data" from which everyone else has a little "Decision: [link]". Mine says "Decision: Admission decisions are currently not available."

i see now. but kisskiss, i wouldn't take that as a sign of rejection. probably more likely that it is a comp glitch. like you said so yourself, it seems that EVERYONE sees the link, and obviously we're not all going to be accepted. it prob doesn't mean anything, but we will know for sure tomorrow.

good luck trying to sleep tonight everyone!!! while most of you will toss and turn wondering if youll get in, Ill probably just lay up asking myself, "why did I even bother?"

**** i just saw this on their website...did anyone else know this? i thought all schools were need-blind these days...

"Brown's transfer admission process is officially need-aware; meaning that a student's financial need may be taken into account when we make an admission decision."

<a href="https://emt.askadmissions.net/brown/aeresults.aspx?did=2&cid=2035&quser=transfer&submit=Go%5B/url%5D">https://emt.askadmissions.net/brown/aeresults.aspx?did=2&cid=2035&quser=transfer&submit=Go</a></p>

yeah if u apply for financial aid your chance of getting in may be substantially less. oh well i did lol

I thought it was need-blind for transfers... guess not.

Here it is on the brown website (I'm not sure what askadmissions.net is)

<a href="http://financialaid.brown.edu/Cmx_Content.aspx?cpId=56%5B/url%5D">http://financialaid.brown.edu/Cmx_Content.aspx?cpId=56</a></p>

For freshmen. A lot of schools are need-aware when transfers are taken into account because they don't really need us so in certain cases the amount of $ you can pay for your education is significant. I doubt you'll be sorted into the "reject" pile if you need money, though. I know plenty of people who can go full ride who get rejected as transfers (and soon enough I will join their ranks!).

forget can't sleep, i can't study, i have another month left of school and this whole process is really taking a toll on my focus. i have a spanish test tomorrow, and i can't get myself to leave the computer

me too, i have a final tomorrow and i can't study

so is everyone calling tomorrow or just waiting on a letter? i guess if they mailed them today they probly wont be in the mailbox tomorrow?? You think they send acceptance letters in a standard white envelope followed by a big manilla package later in like a week. Or will we be able to judge by the size/thickness of the letter as to if we got in? thoughts?

I've never heard of them doing anything out of the ordinary- not like Cornell where you know that the thin envelope can also contain an acceptance- so I assume it's a package or it's the thin envelope. I can wait for the thin envelope- the phone denials are not fun. I got one of those with Cornell earlier in the week and I'd rather not repeat that experience.

I still have no username/password to begin with.
I also have the last exams on Thursday. Till then I can't even have my hair cut! It's so stressful..

Phone rejection must be SO weird.
I'm tempted to call... but I think it wouldn't be a little too awkward for me to handle.

Im gonna call probly and just suck it up. It will be awkward but, for me at least, reading the letter is too suspenseful.

phone denials aren't too bad, i got one yesterday and it wasn't horrible, then again, it wasn't from one of my top choices (even if it might be the most selective)

oh well im going to call, my chances are slim so i dont really care at this point

lol.. is it just me or do you guys find this waiting period to be more strenuous than the actual application process?

the waiting is worse than the rejection. i say this even after being rejected by several colleges in the past few days. rejection is so liberating.
