105 days! wait?!?!?!

hey to all you RD applicants good luck! bc i know you are gonna need it. If the RD pool was just like the ED pool then its gonna be even tougher than before. but dont let that dismay you from trying, bc the worst thing they are gonna say is no. and if it is your first choice let them know that!
believe me, luck is a huge part of it, so do not be discouraged.

Im freaking out :S !

Hey guys a got a letter from Ruth Simmons last week telling me to consider the chances of becoming a brown student and that I’m a very strong candidate for admission.
I have no ideo what the letter is based on. Should I only apply to Brown or is that just too insane ?

No, you should not just apply to Brown!
Those letters are not a guarantee of anything

Oh and I had a question: If I forgot to mention two major things on my common app:

Member and Treasurer of Drama Club (11th, 12th)
Volunteer trip to a village in India with a well known organization (10th, I lived in India)

What is the best way to inform colleges about this if ive already submitted my common app and a lot of the supplements?

I know this is very careless of me and I regret it everyday :

yes, we don’t know how many ECs they want but I also forgot to put some EC! damn!

What do you think are my chances for RD at Brown?

Gender: Female
Prospective Major: Undeclared Engineering
Ethnicity: White

I have a 4.0 and have taken every demanding course my high school offers…
(Class rank 11/326)

Junior Year-
AP Calc (A+, A)
AP US History(A, A+)
AP English (A, A)

Senior Year-
AP Chemistry (A+)
AP English (A)
Honors Physics (A+) and next semester I am switching into AP Physics (without taking the entire course…I want to show college admissions staff that I am looking to challenge myself)

I play Girls Varsity Lacrosse
I have received many Faculty Awards in Math and Science
I am in Interact Club, Student Council, Humanitarian Club, Debate Club, and in the Student Leadership Organization

I am not an excellent standardized test taker; however,
SATs-
630 Math
620 Writing (10 on my essay)
560 Critical Reading

ACTs-
31 Math
29 English
22 Reading
22 Science
(10 on my essay)

What do you think my chances for admission will be for RD?

*I was selected to be a teacher’s assistant in my Physics class.

^This is not a chance thread! Don’t clutter it up.

You’ll have to make your own thread in the “What are my chances” forum topic.

yess! haha but I can’t fathom how ridiculously hard it is to get into both colleges.

brown rd for 2014!!

hey guys! I got deferred from Yale EA, so I’m applying to brown now! haha. what attracted me was the commerce, organizations, and entrepreneurship major

oh, hi Stupefy! how cool!
I’m actually just about finishing my Brown app too. Yale deferred EAers unite! So basically Chinua Achebe teaches at Brown, which is awesome, and their admissions website’s “current students” all graduated about a year or two ago. Nice.
Nevertheless, I’m liking the idea of Brown and their “New/Brown Curriculum” is pretty fascinating. Let’s see how it turns out.

Anyone else sending a music supplement?

^I was going to, but unlike yale/princeton, brown seems to discourage it. no form or anything

Another Regular Decision-er from New York =]. It seems really impossible to get in this year and it’s probably gonna be a <10% acceptance rate because there will be more RD apps this year and last year was like 10%. But good luck all =]

Oh and I’m interested in the Community Health/Psychology concentrations

Stupefy: I always thought of Brown as a school that truly “builds a class;” consequently, I thought a music supplement might set me apart somehow. Oh, well, its just another rejection letter, I guess…

^there was something on the website that seemed to discourage it. lemme find it

yeah this seemed more discouraging than some other colleges’ instructions

plus, maybe im just too arrogant, but I thought even without my music supplement I should get into brown…sigh

I completely understand what you mean. Brown ED Deferee from New York, here!

Grr…I need science competitions to start listing their results so that I’ll hopefully have something to show Brown. Kind of expecting a rejection letter anyway, unfortunately, while still trying to remain optimistic. If that’s even possible, of course. Haha. =

yay we’re applying to brown
