Does anyone know what the Brown acceptance letter say?

Congratulations.

Congrats, we’re pleased to welcome you to the 246th class, etc…

Amadeuic, can you paste the letter please?

I think it was on the RD discussion thread. I’m digging right now for it…

EDIT: I can’t find it anymore … I think you’ll have a better luck PMing admits. Sorry about that!

Yeah, just let me scan it.

Why do you want this, by the way?

In any case, this should do the trick.

P.S. If I forgot to edit, say, my home address, please let me know. Not that you couldn’t find me anyway based on the site (my AIM is my username, after all…), but just a courtesy PM would be appreciated.

^You’re good.

They inserted a personalized section in between the first and second paragraph of D’s acceptance letter. It listed in details of how her application impressed the Board of Admission. I am wondering how widespread this insertion is.

^
For a follow up letter they wrote some things in hand on the bottom. I assume they try to do that for everyone, to some degree or the other.

To be honest, I think it just depends on your particular region’s admissions counselor.

For me, it must have been something to the degree of “Pssh … reject.” (tosses file into a small dark corner)

Really, some people who get into Brown are truly amazing. :)

Brown was the last school I found out about and I ran around screaming for 30 minutes when I got accepted!! I’m still on cloud nine. Anyway, here is the pasted letter

Dear ____,

Congratulations! I am delighted to inform you that you have been admitted to the 248th class to enter The College of Brown University. The Board of Admission has carefully reviewed nearly 31,000 applicants and has selected those men and women who, as members of the Class of 2015, will bring to The College an extraordinary array of talents and interests. You and your 1,485 classmates will be welcomed into a vital and vibrant community of scholars and leaders with a centuries-old tradition of academic excellence. Each of you was chosen not only for what we believe you can contribute to our academic community, but also for what you will gain from the wonderful opportunities that distinguish and define undergraduate education at Brown.

You will receive an official admission decision letter and packet in the mail. Be sure to visit our website for admitted students to learn more about Brown, including information about our campus visitation program: A Day on College Hill. If you are a candidate for financial aid, information regarding your financial aid award is available online. We encourage you to contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions.

Please know that prior to your enrollment next fall we expect you to maintain academic and social records of the same high quality that you have demonstrated in your career thus far. If you have any questions between now and your matriculation, do not hesitate to contact us.

On behalf of the Brown faculty and President Ruth Simmons, please accept my congratulations on your admission. I look forward to welcoming you to campus next fall!

Yours sincerely,

James S. Miller
Dean of Admission

Mine has a personalized paragraph about my essay! Best acceptance letter ever.

@heinzketchup. That’s sooooo awesome!!! What did they say, if you don’t mind sharing.

It really irks me that they got rid of the longtime first line of the acceptance letter, which I thought was so awesome and unique: “I hope that you’re as glad to be receiving this letter as I am to be sending it.”

heinzketchup, mine’s has that too! It was such a nice little surprise! :)

mgcsinc, that sounds pretty generic compared to what we got this year. :P

That wasn’t the whole letter! :P

My acceptance letter was personalized too, so that part isn’t new. It was a nice touch, though I don’t think it influenced my decision either way.

Wait so all acceptance letters (not the one online, obviously) are personalized? how do they have the time to do that?

I don’t know but it appears that everyone gets around three sentences about their unique application. However they manage it, it’s pretty awesome! (made me feel very special )

Edit: never mind, just saw the other thread where some people’s letters weren’t personalized…
