Personalized Acceptance Letter?

Hello,
In my Brown acceptance letter, they wrote an entire paragraph about how much they enjoyed reading my essay, which was about playing the tenor saxophone, and they wrote that they want me to continue studying music at Brown. Did everyone else recieve a personalized letter? I thought that it was extremely thoughtful of Brown and it sent me a very strong message about the character of the University as a whole. Only one paragraph was personalized (the rest read like a form letter), but I was just curious to see if this is common for the Admission Office. Thanks!

that's how mine was formatted. from some of the other posts, i've seen that others have the same status.

the letter last year was personal too. nice touch

Gotta LOVE Brown...... :o) If you decide to attend Brown, the personalized letter will only be the first of so many good things to come! Congrats on your acceptance! :o)

Oh? What happens next?

Can anyone post the personalized letter here? I wanna see it!

when did you guys get your letters? i was accepted but still haven't gotten anything in the mail...

Hm, I don't know. I didn't even read my letter. :P

i got mine the 31st

mine wasn't personalized :(

^But you were accepted just the same, congrats!

Two years ago mine was personalized as well.

HEY mine was personalized too! everyone else i knew didn't have one.
does that mean something or is it just something they do randomly?

my letter pretty much said they laughed at my essay (it was supposed to be ironic...so that's good!) and that they think that i will do well studying in the sciences (which i want to do).

does a personalized letter mean anything special?

I got one just today: so it wasn't my -acceptance- letter. Basically, it was just my regional admissions officer welcoming me to the class of 2011. Maybe it all depends on the person in charge of you. ;)

My letter wasn't personalized at all...

I think the personalized letter just shows what a class act Brown really is! It could be a way of getting the student even more interested in Brown ( just like the likely letters some schools sent earlier..)

HM. Are you guys (the ones that say it wasn't) SURE it wasn't personalized? A friend of mine hadn't noticed til' I made her reread it.

Anyway, I was really touched. It was very unexpected. ^_^ Mine said it was a pleasure to read my essay, "your richness of language proved positively compelling" (or something like that), blah blah. It talked about my position as EIC of the school litmag and then went on to talk about the Brown Daily Herald and other such things. Very, very cool.

OMG I'm so psyched I got into Brown!! Yes :).

I got a standard "Congratulations" form letter when I got in, enclosed in that big packet; just today I received another, slightly more personalized letter from my region's adcom.

By the way, when I got "thick" envelope from Brown, I immediately knew I had gotten in, but it was so disorganized that the "Congrats, you''ve been accepted" letter was beneath my financial aid letter and the ADOCH packet. Kinda funny if, after seeing all that awesome ADOCH stuff there was a letter saying "This is what you could be doing...if you were good enough to actually get in to Brown. Sorry kiddo."

When I was admitted to university in the UK at undergraduate level I received the standard letter of acceptance with a handwritten note from the professor alongside it. She was a Brown graduate.
