Brown artists!

Today I met Professor Fishman. I was discussing some ideas with him and he asked me to send him some of my work, since I told him I didn’t send an art portfolio to Brown. I didn’t send any of my work because I’m on the science track in an IB program and haven’t had a formal art class since 9th grade, so I didn’t think any of my current work would be up to Brown’s standards. Everything I’ve seen from there looks so awesome and out of my league. Artistic rejection hurts so much more than academic rejection, doesn’t it? :)

Naturally, I was ecstatic that someone from Brown would want to look at my stuff, but I don’t know what an art portfolio should contain. I’m guessing I need high quality scans? Photos? A lot of my stuff is large paintings, so I’m not sure how to display it. Would compressed image files work better?

Anyone who could offer any advice about a portfolio will be loved forever!

I also am on the science track, but I think I sent 10 prints of my best work.

I think I’m going to send 10 prints as well.
Probably photographing the larger pieces.

Three years ago my daughter applied (accepted) RD and sent in a portfolio of slides.
Here is a link to what they would like to see in an art portfolio:

It looks as though they still want slides or prints, not CDs. My daughter is a Visual Arts concentrator at Brown, and loves the department. Good luck to you!
