There are chance me tools on prepscholar and Parchment, but I caution you against using them because I’ve found them to be wildly optimistic and they could end up giving you false security.
However if you really want some false security, go put your data into Parchment. It’s all color coded and everything. It tells me my son has a 91% chance of being admitted to Swarthmore so you know it’s accurate.
THose things are just algorithms using simple formulas on numerical aspects of the app to give an estimate. However, there are too many contextual points, and many other aspects of the app that cant be quantified (Lexical analysis programs in computational systems still isnt that advanced of a thing). So, theyre waaaaay too inaccurate in that sense.
Again, there are apps with lesser scores and no’s compared to other apps who get in, and those dont. So, it cant predict that either.
Companies/webpages like those need to have some interactive features to attract the anxious HS kid/normal ppl.
So I agree to not use any such things if theyre intended for the truth.
The chance can only be determined by the adcom members. That too cant be given a numerical value.
More comments regarding that.
THey definitely give a false sense; of hope or despair depends on what inputs are fed in.
So, you arent guaranteed a “produced” good mood after its use.
I’d rather not take names of websites offering these features.
At this point in time I suspect many people are looking for hope and reassurance. Or just want to make the time go faster.
Only way to make the wait better is to take your mind off of it, which I’m not doing hanging around on CC. And it’s not even my app, it’s my kid.
Still it’s better for me to dump my anxiety here than to put pressure on him. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
@ninakatarina I agree. But taking your mind off it by doing anything not at all associated with college admissions is good.
Easier said than done though :(( College admissions hangs around my mind during the day and haunts me at night lol
Does anyone have any info on the “Received, Final School Transcript, 02/07/2019” message under application checklist? Seems odd since HS graduation is still a couple of months away.
@NMParent000079 I had the same thing on my portal. It said my Final School Transcript was received, so I emailed the university about it. They said it was “an error in [my] portal” and that they “corrected it.” The Final School Transcript is still there, but it says “awaiting” rather than “received.”
Okay. Thank you!
@NMParent000079 Your scenario has been discussed and a conclusion regarding its meaning has been given previously on this thread.
