@PianoWinterfell I believe I have explained it right here on this forum before, but I’ll concisely state it again.
Mostly, no correlation or theory
If there is one, its due to 'ranking' apps on certain criteria, since the email is a personal inbox send (idk what criteria, but one can intuitively guess)
Some ppl definitely didnt get the email, based on talks with friends and such, so that furthers point 2? But i highly doubt it.
looking at the RD acceptance rate of brown, it’s reasonable to deduce that most of us here will not get in. The large majority here, however, received the email 2 weeks ago; considering that receiving the email early is a good sign may be a stretch since if so, most of us would have received it yesterday instead
On my IDOC account, I have a new Required Document called Brown University Current Student Application. Does anyone else have that? I applied RD this year…
I emailed brown financial aid about it since it says that the deadline is May 3rd and it is clearly for current students. I just want to make sure that it’s not something random that they needed.
Got accepted to: Northeastern, Chapel hill, Boston college, Northwestern, UCLA
Essays: wrote about my synesthesia, community, running, and about intended concentration (economic sociology)
I know this is v little info and my stats are not amazing, but just wanted to know if there was any hope?? Either way, I’m really happy with where I got accepted to ESPECIALLY because of my stats
@TheGuy1 thanks! Yeah, I’m international - what role does that play in the admissions proccess? I reckon my SAT scores are quite low for an international.
My essays are pretty original I’d say cause I spoke about something thats really personal to me (music composition and my synesthesia), which is probably what got me into Northwestern and UCLA. I’m still waiting on Brown and Stanford but before I got accepted from NW and LA, I really didn’t think I stood a chance. I know these schools are bIG but was just wondering if there was any hope??
Since about 10-12% of browns class (12 is too generous, but I’m giving that benefit anyways, its mostly 10%) is intl, its way more competitive for Intl’s to get in. There’s too much competition on a capped % to be filled.
BUt there’s definitely hope, since your IB score offsets your low stats. The downside is that since all these schools operate and value stuff differently, you never know whats on the other end.
