What state are you in? Thanks.
Is everyone’s option to upload supplemental materials gone?
Refer to the Brown’s IDOC policy on requests from certain families. Its only to get a comprehensive aid measure on the app. If they dont need them , they dont need them. Its personal.
Ill say this again:
It has nothing to do with acceptance. A kid from my school got in ED without IDOC requests.
My regional admissions counselor contacted my HS GC and said that they’re mostly lettin’ me and 2 other kids from my school in RD. If ur wondering why I got to know about 1.5 weeks early (but im postin’ this now), thats cuz they’re really good friends (lol helped me now). I dont have IDOC requests.
Brown cant lie of their IDOC policy, this literally illegal.
I’m not posting the same link from Brown again and again.
It depend on personal circumstance and data required for eval’ing a comprehensive aid package.
THey wont waste time pulling extra data from everywhere. Also, I get why this dilemma is present, considering that the important docs werent pulled by Brown, and this being rare, but the school itself has assured us.
@joanoa20 It should be, tho IDK. They wont be reading anything now anyways.
@TheGuy1 They can be besties for all we know, but the fact that your GC told you about the conversation he/she had with the admissions officer is very alarming. It’s just unprofessional and very against the code of conduct of guidance counselors.
@factoryboylol I’ve mentioned this. They are really good friends, but it is unprofessional. A lot of what happens in the schools near my area and my city is of the nature. THat is upto the extent of breach my school goes through, but lets just say our neighboring schools and competitors do a lot lot worse.
@joanoa20 Nope, still up for me
I just checked mine and its still up too. Same @intricuit
It doesnt matter tho, cuz nothing will be read now anyways. Tho they say that ‘we can continue to keep uploading the supp. materials’
Sorry guys, what is IDOC? I didn’t apply for aid so this may not apply to me but I’m just concerned…
IDOC is for uploading financial documents…won’t concern you if you didn’t apply for aid.
hey can anyone else access the courses at brown page? some say I do not have pre-req for the class but others do not. What does this mean?
Applying to top schools means u should be knowing this already.
No one can access the courses, U need a Student ID for that, which is only issued to the ENROLLED students. Classes can be taken for a semester via the brown Student portal, with the ID login needed.
Some courses need a certain courseload in units/creds/hrs/grade of a subject to be done before u start the semester or while doing the semester. This applies only for courses and rarely for majors. Not to worry, u can take the missing prereqs while pursuing ure major in many cases. Theyre understanding
@schoology i can as well but i’ve heard that everyone should be able to. the only thing that’s a sign of acceptance (potentially) is the IDOC change and FA additional docs
It’s not a sign. I’ve been here several years and every year applicants have an IDOC change and/or get a request for addl docs and still get rejected
You CAN view courses on Brown’s page through Banner self-service if you aren’t enrolled. Stop being so demeaning, especially when you’re wrong. @TheGuy1
@skieurope i beg to differ check reddit for the last two years.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate you clarifying. I have tried to stay off the cc threads but the last minute hysteria is getting to me. Good luck to everyone! What majors did you apply as? I did computational biology. Am so nervousssss
Check College Confidential for the last 5.
The speculations about “I heard…” “someone told me…” etc brings to mind a quote from SpongeBob, “Why, once I met this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy’s cousin…”

Or, from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off;: “My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLWGDxGh2G4
Or, from REO Speedwagon’s “Take It On The Run:” “Heard it from a friend who / Heard it from a friend who / Heard it from another you been messin’ around”

Just because you heard something (or saw it on Reddit) does not make it true. But feel free to believe what you want.
@thatsthetea even if u can, i dont think any non-enrolled app/person can select them. Its not an indication of anything anyways
My kid got into Brown last year and we had such a correction about this time FWIW. I never asked why so I don’t know what it means.
@AstroEducator what correction are you referring to?
