Haha this is completely untrue. And what’s super funny is that you “asked a lot of Brown students” as if a Brown student would have any knowledge. My sister was accepted ED and for PLME and was never requested IDOC materials from Brown. Please don’t come here and try to upset people. It’s super unkind.

Brown received a lot more ED applications this year, so that’s likely why they’re delayed.
No, receiving an IDOC request does not determine whether or not you are admitted. I applied for FA and never received a request and was admitted. For RD applications, Brown had updated our documents the Monday before Ivy Day in Banner Self-Service, but I don’t believe ED applicants have access to it until later in December, so it’s a non-factor here.

Last year it was sent two days before the decision day.

Yes! But Brown has never released decisions on weekends. I assume the day would be Monday or Tuesday. Just a guess.
The portals being shut down is in anticipation of decisions being released, since Admissions likely has to crosscheck that they’re sending the right letters to the right people before decisions release.
I’ve never heard of Ivy Decisions releasing on the weekend, the only T20 private that I know does this is MIT, since they release their decisions on Pi Day every year which can fall on a weekend. Ivies always release their decisions after the Admissions Office closes for the day, partly to give applicants time to process their decision, and more likely to not receive angry phone calls from students (read as: parents) trying to contest their decisions.
You’ll absolutely receive an email before decisions release, and the portal is updated as well before decisions release with the decision date (it’ll read something like: Thank you Your Name for applying to Brown. Decisions for ED applicants will release on Day and Time."

The portal is not shutting down until tonight at 11:59 pm.

I know everyone is stressing over their decision (I am too), but you will all be fine!!! Remember that no matter what day the decisions are released, the outcome will be the same. Good luck to all of you
