Thanks
Are we seeing any trends in ED results from other colleges? Are TOs getting accepted? Did a lot of folks here apply TO?
Hi not sure if it is just me but what does TO mean?
Test optional
Yeah I applied TO.
Me too, I also applied TO
I got that email in my spam mail. I’m a bit confused because the email says to get them in to Brown by november 24, but then the next paragraph also says that the deadline is flexible and to not worry as long as the guidance counselor sends in november OR december. I ended up sending mine in on december 8th with an email explanation for the late submission. I’m kind of worried this is going to affect me negatively now.
I dont think it will impact you negatively . although I was surprised why they were so laxed about submitting missing docs when it was already Nov 20th. Any thoughts? Coz I am sure they had a thanksgiving break after Nov 24th.
I mean if someone had a missing rec or transcript, that was kinda late to be asking for that. Isn’t it? First quarter grades is a different story of course.
Brown normally has a 1 week grace deadline for missing documents, and as long as you submitted all of your documents on time, I don’t think your school’s busyness would be held against you.
As @godhelpusall says, they’re probably just running behind. I wouldn’t read too much into it, since I still have access to my portal + decision letter even though it’s already the next application cycle.
Thanks. Can you share your stats?
I agree, but I’m also worried because the email did say to get the missing documents (first term grades) in by the 24th. By one week grace period, do you mean 7 days after the 24th? In that case, my grades would still be considered too late as it was submitted on the 8th of december.
THe email said “Please note that if the First Term Grades/Senior Progress report is listed on your application checklist as missing, there is a flexible deadline. We realize that high schools have different calendars and schedules, particularly this year. There is no need to worry or contact us about this requirement; just ask your guidance counselor to send these grades if and when they become available in November or December.” It is still December. It also said on the portal specifically not to worry too much about it. They have said it multiple times. My school didn’t submit mine until last week. Decisions are already done. Please stop worrying about things you can’t control. Especially when Brown Admissions has told you not to worry.
Decisions are already done? Don’t they keep making those up until the last 1-2 days? Where did you hear that they finish with decisions this early? Estimatedly what date, according to you, do they finish with decision-making?
I’m pretty certain they aren’t saving all the 5000 or so applications that they have had in their possession for the past 6 weeks or more just to deliberate and decide on them over the next 4 days.
I think most decisions are done, but some are still going on. My friend’s counselor didn’t send the first term grade. When my friend called, the officer said Monday is the last day to receive the first term grade for consideration. They’re finalizing the decisions.
Would AOs wait for the missing first term grades to arrive before making a decision on an applicant who hasnt submitted them, or would they go through them as normal? Other applicants from my school submitted their first term grades a month before I did because we have multiple counselors and I was my counselor’s only student that applied to Brown ED. This isn’t me worrying anymore, just wondering.
I meant after November 1st, and that policy specifically referred to school documents, since in many cases the handling of those are out of students’ control. As @soflowatcher says, decisions have already been made (or are close to being made), so fingers crossed and hope for the best!
Brown views students profile before the first term grade arrives. The grade just confirms that the student keeps a good academic performance.
