I was going to apply to Dartmouth, but I thought they required a “Dean’s Recommendation” or something a little more than a College Official’s Report…

Perhaps I misinterpreted it…

This thread is so quiet…is this good news or not??

@Lobzz–Hi~Have you sent any test waiver to the school? I am also an international and I am now studying outside USA. But still, the summary indicates that I need to send 2 SAT Subjects… I have my SAT1 scores received.

In regards to the waiver: I sent my waiver for the SAT II’s a few months ago and it still says I’m missing the SAT II’s. Will let you know when I get it resolved…

@griffinmyers When you mean SATII waiver, was there a special form that we have to fill out for that or did you just send in a letter saying that you never took them?

It was a letter explicitly saying I didn’t have to. I called the admissions office and thats what they said to do.

does anyone know what date Brown notified transfer applications about admission last year??? what about dartmouth or northwestern??? i am really curious and want an exact date to wait for

Last year (2009) applicants were notified:

Brown - May 14
Dartmouth - May 6
Northwestern - ??? No record on CC… But since it was on a rolling basis it seems like this is fair: Sometime after May 15th, but before June 16th…

Thanks!! Nearly a month to go!

No Problem…

So if you (everyone) got into Brown, what would you concentrate in?

I applied for Anthropology (1st choice) and Psychology (2nd choice). I would love to do either. I don’t have many classes for either concentration under my belt, but I wrote a pretty good essay about my passion for both and how I plan to pursue them at Brown. How about you?

So does anyone know if we get any status updates on the status site before the actual decisions are posted? I know other schools do this.

Cool! I hope to concentrate in Development Studies. I am coming from a bio-engineering background so I don’t have too many classes under my belt either.

I am not sure what you mean by Status Updates. If we have everything turned in, what else could (should) they tell us?

Oh that’s awesome! Development Studies sounds absolutely fascinating to me. I don’t want to say I’m glad that you don’t have many classes either, but it is a bit of a relief for me. I’m a bit concerned that they will see my lack of major courses and determine me unfit.

Yeah, I know. That’s what I thought too. The reason I ask is because USC gives you several status updates. They go in this order: “We have received your completed application…”, “We are currently reviewing your application…”, “The committee is reviewing your application…”, and finally “The committee has acted on your application.” I figured Brown wouldn’t do this but I was just a bit curious.

Yeah my admission is contingent on my ability to convince the admissions committee that I sincerely want to switch from my current technical repertoire.

Yeah, I am concerned a bit about classes, but if any school will be friendly towards students like you and myself, it would be Brown.

Is USC rolling admission?

That’s what I was thinking too. Brown is much more flexible than most other schools. It’s a huge reason why I was attracted to them in the first place. I love how much you can individualize your education rather than having to take very specific (and sometimes extremely unenjoyable) pre-reqs.

Nope, USC isn’t rolling per say. They have a concrete application deadline and a rough decision notification date. They say we’ll receive our decision letters by June 1st, but a significant amount of people hear back before then. Two people in the USC transfer thread have been admitted already! Though that’s kind of unheard of. I’m expecting a mid-May notification.

that seems to be rather common, well at least more common in transfer admissions than in freshmen admissions. it seems the “rolling notifications” approach would be better for the adcom than a big burst of notifications sent out on a single day. I am not sure if it better or worse for the applicants…

I think it’s better. Just like you, I don’t really see the point of holding on to our decisions until a specified date. I would like to know asap. The only reason I understand waiting is if they have a couple applicants that they are on the fence about and want to re-evaluate them once the rest of the transfer candidates have been chosen. Still that seems a bit unnecessary. I honestly just feel worlds better about the process now that I know Brown has all of my materials. I can breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Dunno why they haven’t received my high school report. Should have been submitted like three months ago. Ah well, I’ll have it faxed.

That sucks. Have you called them and asked if they have it? A similar thing happened for me with USC and it turned out they had it all along, they just forgot to input it.

Well, I just asked the person to fax it so I’ll probably call in two days to check if they’ve gotten the fax at least.
