Brown Fall 2010 Transfer Thread

Lol well maybe you should wait till AFTER you get your admissions decision and THEN start a riot. My admission info for Mount Holyoke was only online they didn’t send me a packet in the mail and I’m very glad that they did that because that saves so much paper.

quirkyturkey
your soo right about brown and The OC! LOL

is brown Ivy League?

<<< get out of this thread

Chris0089- I hope you didn’t apply to Brown without knowing that…

i think chris0089 is just yanking yer chains, he’s one on of the cornell admits

The question should be, “Is Cornell Ivy League?”

Answer: barely. ;)

hahha. Cornell is infinitely better than Brown. Hardly anyone has heard of Brown on the west coast.

The reason I was asking is coz I was counting the 8 Ivy Leagues and was unsure whether it was MIT of Brown that wasn’t in the league. :)

@ chris0089-- As someone who has lived on the West Coast for the past 21 years, Brown is extremely well-known and highly respected out here.

thegoldfinch: I disagree with you there. I don’t think most people have heard of Brown out here.

chris0089: you’re not funny or provocative. Cornell is clearly not a better school than Brown, and you saying so isn’t interesting or witty. They both have their strengths. In mine and many others’ opinions, Brown has more strengths than Cornell. To each his own.

LOL

ivy league is just a term for an athletic conference, albeit those very 8 schools are academic powerhouses

To whoever said cornell is barely ivy league, you should look up what ivy league means. You will find out that a school either IS or IS not. No barely. :D

it’s funny how on the US news ranking, Brown is # 16 and Cornell is # 15. Okay…I guess they’re both really good! :)

But my point really was that MIT isn’t an Ivy League though most people would say it in on breath with Harvard.

Ditto Castiel. The “Ivy League” is simply an athletic conference. It is not a determination of academic quality. The schools in the IL are definitely good schools, but there are a number of schools that are academically equivalent (or even better, IMO, in the case of MIT, for the sciences).

Only 3 days until decisions will be released… yikes! It feels like yesterday I was struggling to get my application together…

How do you know it’s 3 days?

According to a few cc members, Brown will be mailing out decisions this Tuesday.

Are there any other numbers we can call other then the number provided on the admissions site? It’s ALWAYS busy…

Hey they’re actually mailing them out on Wednesday. It says it on their website: "Decision letters will be mailed May 12, 2010. "

Haha yes it is, I remember waiting on hold for nearly an hour sometime in early Febuary!

Since I can’t get ahold of anyone to talk to at Brown, you guys are the next best thing :p

I’m an international applicant, I CANNOT, slash that, WILL NOT, wait for my decision through snailmail to get to the opposite side of the world. Please someone say it’ll be posted online.
