Brown Fall 2010 Transfer Thread

I was surprised to hear that decisions were not going to be posted online. Brown freshmen applicants get see their decision online…

You should probably try to reach them by phone before Wednesday… I wouldn’t be surprised if brown’s phone lines will be even more flooded!

I couldn’t log in to Brown’s application website anymore. Looks like my account is deleted or something. Does anyone experience the same thing?

I just hope my letter gets to me before Friday, what a weekend that would be.

heyyy could you guys access your account on Brown’s website? I couldn’t and now I’m panicking.

I can’t log in either. Hopefully it doesn’t mean anything.

I still can…

I’m going to take a gander and say that the inability to log in is probably a server error - or maybe their updating something in your account, like financial aid or something like that. I can still log in, but who knows?

Yar. Having to wait for snail mail makes me wish I didn’t live on the other side of the country.

I can still log in. It seems so weird that they would set up these online accounts and then not use them to give us our decisions… but oh well.

What do you mean by “not able to login”?

For a while I could not login, but that was only because I used an obscure password lol.

Are you getting a special error message, or just “Invalid login information. Please try again”?

For me, at least, it doesn’t “say” anything–it just refreshes the page, with bboth fields now blank. Weird.
Anyway, it may well mean a rejection, but at this point we just have no way of knowing. Don’t get me wrong–I’m extremely anxious about my decision, but I’m not stressing too much about this.

I would assume it’s nothing. If it’s just like that starting today, then it’s clearly a server thing since the admissions office isn’t even open or doing anything right now (weekend).

I just logged in…

If you look around in other transfer threads, it seems that admission account website glitches are not uncommon. Also, over analyzing glitches as “signs” seems to be very common on CC. (I am certainly guilty of it!)

I wouldn’t really claim neither brown or cornell are better, probably about the same. I think Brown is better known though. I remember some guy was trying to sell me on a cornell degree but he failed to mention it was ivy league and I never heard of it before. That being said its still a good school.

i called the admissions office on thursday asking why the hell they’re wasting so much paper sending our rejection letters, instead of posting everything online–the answer to this question has something to do with the reason as to why many of you can’t log on to your Brown accounts. Supposedly, Brown is having trouble with its online system (hence many of you cant log on), and thus they’re going to send out decisions via mail instead.

haha! thanks 19921992!!

There is always a reasonable explanation!

VERY relieved to hear this. Sounds like the glitch was just random. Still, it’s going to be a tough wait this week.

I doubt I’ll be accepted to Brown, but I’m still nervous!

lioninwinter- your name was on tv last night in my area, did you happen to watch it??

Haha no I did not. Wish I’d known–Katharine Hepburn is my idol (not surprisingly).
