Try to like wherever you go if you don’t get in. Really, you will be very miserable if you go in thinking about transferring. Give it a chance.

For a good application: come up with a compelling reason to transfer (My school doesn’t have this department, my school has a bad department for this, etc). Don’t badmouth your current school (you can talk about how you don’t feel comfortable there, or would prefer a different environment, but don’t say something negative (try for like, it’s a great school it’s just not for me)). Take challenging classes, maintain a high GPA, think for a long time about your essays, do everything early.

I don’t think we can conclude that there aren’t many transfer applicants this year just because the thread is quite inactive, but that is a nice thought! :)

Last year everyone was notified by mail only, but I read that this year notifications would be online only with admission packets to come later. I have no idea how true that is, however.

guysss i got accepted to cornell as a transfer and i have to respond by like 5/10…
but brown is releasing decisions so late!!
any suggestions ?:(

Send brown a copy of that acceptance and the date you have to reply to cornell by and as long as you send it two weeks prior to the reply by date brown will give you an answer. So send it tomorrow.

Can anyone see the ‘click here’ button right next to the decision box? When I click it, it says ‘Admission decisions for transfer applicants are not available on the web. Check the Undergraduate Admission web site for updated information about transfer mailing dates.’
I am really concerned of this…

So I’m in the same situation (overlapping deadlines) and called Brown and they curtly said that they were not releasing any decisions early, at all. The woman whom I spoke with did not identify herself or ask if there was anything else I needed help/information about either. I find this rather confusing as the website seems to say differently, send in the letter two weeks prior etc. has anyone else heard anything different about this policy?

I have had the same box on my page for quite a while, says the same thing. I wouldn’t worry about it. I know my odds are slim to none, My hopes are not up, so I am not really worried about it.
To whoever got accepted to Cornell, why not just commit, and if Brown says yes, then go to Brown? If you get rejected from Brown are you going to Cornell? If so, then I dont see an issue except maybe losing a deposit. I don’t know a whole lot about the subject, so I could be missing why that’s not possible to do.

Nevermind about the deadline overlap; I called Hampshire asking for an extension and they told me the May 1 deposit deadline was a misprint and the date is actually May 15. :)

In situations like overlapping deposits, etc., you are allowed to call and request and early read. I read in an article that some schools will require proof that you were accepted and have dates to adhere to, but overall they should be used to the issue and will be able make something work for you. At the very least it couldn’t hurt to call and ask- especially in something that could affect your entire future :)

Well, I called brown due to the same situation and all i got was a curt response from an unidentified woman who told me brown would not be releasing any decisions early.
