Brown Transfer 2012

I hope Brown reverses their current policy of not sending early decisions once all apps have been reviewed. I have a deposit to W&M due May 15 :/

you can probably call
W&M and tell them you need an extra day. I Imagine they could accommodate. I can’t be for sure, but it sure doesn’t seem like too much to ask for. Congrats on W&M by the way! awesome school! You have some great options Anthro!

Thanks norcal! I’m very pleased to be accepted to W&M, but if I am admitted to Brown… where to attend will hardly be something I have to consider. So I guess I really don’t need an early decision from Brown or an extension from W&M as long as I can call on the 15th and get a decision from admissions. I’d feel better if I could put in my W&M deposit by the time the housing application goes live (about a week before the deposit is due) but, again, if I’m accepted to Brown then that will all be moot. So anxious!

Anthro, did you notice the change in the applicant portal? It now says that no changes will be accepted after May 3rd, and that they will begin mailing decisions mid- May. It’s getting so close! Good thing, because I am planning my housing and summer classes for UCLA, I’m already out 150 for summer deposit. I don’t care one bit though if I get into Brown!

I didn’t notice! I wonder what it means… Perhaps that the final review of applications and decisions on them will be made in the week beginning May 7? Before I was accepted to W&M, time moved so slowly; now it seems like there isn’t enough! xD Since Brown is a bit of a reach for me, I’ll probably just go ahead and pay the deposit to W&M. Better to be safe than sorry. If I don’t get into Brown, then I’ll have housing and a deposit to W&M paid, and if I do get into Brown then W&M will just get a little of my money haha. It’d be awesome if decisions were made by the 3rd, instead of the week following… then Brown admissions might relax their notification policy a bit. Anyway, I think I’ve said this before on here, and it may have been to you, but I really regret not applying to any colleges on the West Coast, specifically those in the UC system. I didn’t consider any until it was too late  Oh well, hopefully we’ll both be at Brown this fall!

I just realized that it doesn’t say May 15 notification anywhere, does it? That is just what it has been historically. Hopefully it is sooner! They state “mid May”

Does anyone else not have the “view decision” button?

yeah it went away

All of a sudden I’m scared of the thought that I might get in. Then what will I do? I will have to go to Brown regardless of what financial package I get and then have to do Brown coursework. Oh man, I am getting nervous!

Received this from an admissions representative today:

I am responding to your email requesting early notification for your transfer application.* We are not able to give early transfer decisions to the applicants, you will be receiving a decision letter by May 10th.

(!!!) If they aren’t accepting new material after May 3, and we’ll have our decisions by May 10, that means next week is the week!!! So close!

If we will have decisions by May 10 I wonder what day they are mailing them and if we are able to call that day for an answer. Ah, so close.

When I first read the email I was excited, then extremely nervous. From the wording it seemed like two groups of letters would be mailed. I worried that rejections would come by May 10, and the rest by “mid-May,” so I emailed the rep back and asked. He/She told me that all decisions are being mailed the same day  My guess is that admissions will make final decisions this week, and mail them next Monday.

Who were you emailing? I sent an email to the transfer admissions office a week ago and still haven’t gotten a reply.

I wish I had applied to Brown, though I would not have gotten in. :frowning: It’s a school where I think I would fit in…grad school haha?

@dinorawr: I emailed the address transferapp@brown.edu over the weekend while they were closed. I received my first reply this morning at 9:38 am and the second at 10:30 am. I was a little shocked to receive such a quick reply. I really thought I wouldn’t get one at all and that I’d have to call.

@concernedparent: I was glad to do it! I’m from Alabama.

That’s weird, I emailed them a week ago and still no reply. Guess I’ll call tomorrow.

Anyone know how/when we will get decisions? Can’t stand the wait, it’s killing me…

Just received an email from the assoc. director of admission asking for my spring quarter classes that I am currently enrolled in and how much credit each course carries. I must have sent in that form like 3 times (once by mail and twice by e-mail with changes in my schedule). I’m surprised they asked… nevertheless, does anyone have any idea what this might mean?
The email directly referenced my current institution and my application.
Is there hope?

@bookandcats,

I’m sure at this point in time Brown has already weeded out a lot of the weaker applicants. It means at the very least you are still strongly being considered for admissions.

Good luck.

Longest week of my life. I have 2 midterms and 4 decisions coming out Wednesday-Friday next week.

The next seven days will be torture.
