Brown University class of 2021 ED applicants discussion

I just applied ED for Brown!!! But idk if I should turn in both my SAT scores and ACT scores. I already turned in my sat which I got a 2270 on (old sat) and my 2 subject tests. I got a 33 (superscore) on my ACT. Should i turn act in? It’s kinda relatively low… what if it decreases the chance of me getting in?

Hey guys! so i’m pretty much done with my application and planning to submit tomorrow… but i got my sat subject test scores back today and they’re not that great. i got a 630 on literature and a 630 on math II :frowning: my sat I was a 1420, with a 710 on math and 710 on reading/writing. i know my standardized test scores aren’t amazing, but i’ve taken all IB classes and have a 4.5 weighted gpa, which i hope can compensate for my scores a bit ahhh. i poured my heart into my supplements, and i have good EC’s and awards and i also have a job that i work during the school year. idk, do you guys think i have a shot? and do ivies care about sat II scores enough to completely reject you if you score in a lower percentile?? i just really hope i’m not out of the running because of a couple weak test scores.

@littlemousling passion that shines through on the rest of the application can always overshadow numbers! don’t give up!

@kendizzle thank you!! i really truly hope so. my sat isn’t horrible but ugh, i’m not a great standardized test-taker. i hope your app is going well! and if you’ve already submitted then best of luck

This forum has been so helpful and positive! In my family, the choice had been between Cornell versus Brown for the ED application and the winner was…Brown University. Application submitted last night. Now the waiting begins! But a question - how is it possible to confirm that the application is complete? I know that an email will be generated after some number of days that will permit the applicant to create the online application portal, and THEN the applicant can see if the application is complete, but that probably won’t happen until after the November 1 deadline. Any suggestions?

Finally submitted! woohoo  now for the excruciatingly long wait

How many of you guys are submitting a portfolio with your app? Does Brown expect you to submit an arts portfolio?

I’m submitting a photo portfolio. No, they don’t expect you to submit one, it’s optional.

Do you think additional writing supplements are welcome? i don’t want any adcoms to get annoyed by excess writing samples, lol

Realistically speaking, they only have x amount of time for each application so if you give them more things to look over, they might just skim it and not really look at it in the end.

has anyone gotten an email to set up a brown account? i submitted on tuesday and still did not get an email about it!

@allima I think everyone gets their account this Wednesday from what I’ve been hearing

Just submitted my app tonight - good luck to everyone applying!

AHHH just applied to Brown after grueling over my essays for weeks! Can’t wait until December 15! Good luck everyone

@ricka8 I think it was December 10th last year… even earlier!

for financial aid, does anyone know if I have to submit the non-custodial parent profile if my parents are not divorced? thanks.

@jejiang nope that’s only for divorced families

@ricka8 in the past decisions have came out from dec 10-15 so we might even find out earlier!! good luck everyone

is anyone else going through that post-submission phase where you question all of your supplements and worry that they could’ve been better :-S
