Brown University class of 2021 ED applicants discussion

holy crap i’m highkey panicking… I’m so worried that my stats weren’t high enough. Do you guys think I have any chance with 32 ACT and a- average grades?

@yellowrgb You’re absolutely in the running! All you can do is wait…but waiting is tough!

Ok this may be a dumb question but where exactly will we be able to see our letter of acceptance/rejection/defferal. On the brown portal all there is is a tiny box that says decision for me. Also for plme applicants, will it say on the portal with the decision if i got into plme or not?

@parisgeller i think that little box will change to say accepted, denied, or deferred. I also assume they’ll send an email telling you your decision (but I’m not 100% sure about that). I have no idea about PLME. Good luck! I hope you get in! I wanted to apply to PLME, but my physics grade freshman year sucked

Also, how many people applying ED are IB diploma candidates? I’m v curious

It’d be kinda lame if they gave no user interface other than that black and white text box telling you ur decision…

From a video I saw of someone opening their acceptance, on the main page right when you log in, there will be a new section that will say basically “View your admission decision”. You click on that, and then a letter pops up with your acceptance/rejection/deferral! This was what happened two years ago so it could have changed, but I am thinking it will be the same for us.

has anyones portal changed???

My portal changed last night. I checked my application status (for no reason other than to anxiously stare at it), and I saw the usual “we’re still continuing to process application materials for you”/“acceptance decisions currently not available” or whatever it says in the table for application status. However, above it there was a box saying “Congratulations on your early decision acceptance into Brown University” and below that a statement affirming that I would attend. I’m not sure what’s happening…

Guys – don’t expend energy worrying about the hows and whys of how the decision will be delivered. It won’t be suble – you’ll know the decision immediately. You’re not the first people whom Brown has notified via its portal.

I mean really – if the doggone college had Hedwig the snow owl fly in your window and poop out the decision into your hand, you’ll still find out, right?

It won’t be subtle. It’ll be clear. Go do something else, stop refreshing this page! It’ll be all right! You’ve worked extremely hard and unless you’re completely insane and not viable, you’ll 99.998% likely have a wonderful collegiate career – Brown or no Brown. You’re ALREADY fantastic.

Actually, I checked just now and everything changed back into how it was before (admission decisions are currently unavailable and nothing else). Please disregard my other post.

Hi, I had the same problem as you with my account doing weird stuff, but an admission officer just called me (I live n France by the way) and he said I had been accepted to Brown early! So maybe it’s the case for you too

would you mind posting your stats? ^^

does your account say “admitted”?

Beware of first time posters announcing their acceptance before everyone else - they are usually sadists!

No my account doesn’t say anything, but I’m pretty sure if an admission officer calls me, it’s not a lie. He said all the official decisions will be released on the 14th as planned. Maybe you can try calling the office if you had the same bug. And for my stats, I got 2100 at the old SAT (700R 710W 690M), 800 in French, 660 in math and 640 in Chinese, and I don’t know about my GPA because I go by the French system and we don’t calculate GPAs

My son just got a call from his local admissions officer telling him he was accepted!!!

@cereal3 - you or your S applied Tulane EA and Brown ED simultaneously?

Wow. This is amazing. I’ve never heard of personal phone calls from admissions officers!
