Brown Waitlist 2018

@nathancollege‌ are u sure Dartmouth took someone off the waitlist? I heard that the yield was higher tan expected, and that they wouldn’t be taking anyone off the waitlist. Thanks to God that didn’t happen with us Brown waitlisted students!

yes unless person made it up, i was told they got a phone call like Cornell is doing for their waitlist people. Spoke to Brown, and someone there said rolling admissions and would be by email.

Oh ok thanks for the info. Now I’m really confused: email or mail? Because I know that most definitely if you get accepted, the admissions office will call you.

If it is by mail, I am going to know like 2 weeks later because letters from the US tend to delay a lot. :frowning: I just wish we could know already, but I understand the admission officers are really busy reviewing applications again.

@nathancollege did they tell you anything else? Like whether they began reviewing applications or how many are likely to be admitted?

no i didn’t even get chance to ask. its like you’re trying to get state secrets. It was very official and talking points like. But i specifically asked mail or email, and I was told email. But I agree with @astrogirl, it seems like most people from waitlist are getting phone calls from other colleges, so I would think email and/or phone call. its upsetting that they don’t just give you a time and date like they do with ED and RD applicants. its torture. What about people who got more than one waitlist? If you get off one, can you accept it, and then decline it if you get another one you want more?

I was informed of my acceptance off of the waitlist on Thursday May 9th! I would have written earlier but I didn’t find this thread until now. A woman from the admissions office called my guidance counselor and told him of my acceptance but she called me today and told me that the official admissions packet was mailed today. I’m not sure if that means all packets/decisions would be mailed today but I do know that many decisions have been made and the admissions officers have already gone to committee specifically for the waitlist! Also, my guidance counselor said that her calling was an unusual circumstance and Brown will probably mail out most other acceptances, so if you didn’t get a call that doesn’t mean you aren’t in!

Best of luck to you all! I hope I see some of you in Providence next fall!

^ #jealous & congrats! Just wondering, do you happen to go to an elite private school, have parents who are alumni, etc? A Brown alumni I know told me the wl is usually reserved for those kids - just wanted to see to what extent how true that is.

What time of day did you get that call?

On may 9th they published an article an it included a sentence like ‘nobody has been admitted yet’

^maybe that’s what they want us to think! Muwhahahaha…

@MCO123 you serious or you messing around?

If the first wave was sent on the 9th you cannot be the only one to get in. I did not understand.

I am being serious, it wasn’t published in the article probably because the woman had just left committee and called to tell me. Neither of my parents went to college at all and I go to a tiny public school in upstate new york. I got the call at about 11:30 am, good luck to all of you! Only trying to help you guys gauge when you’ll find out:)

@MCO123 sorry it’s just that there are usually a lot of trolls on cc. Thanks for the info though!

Yes, I’m finding it odd that only one person on all of cc seems to have gotten in last week. Not saying he/she is a ■■■■■, but that the totality of the circumstances are odd.

^ it is on a rolling basis. also I’m surprised you didn’t get a notice yet since you’ve already been contacted

Yeah. I feel like they got my hopes up by calling my counselor and I’ve just been playing the waiting game for a week or so. Fingers crossed it comes through though.

Glad this thread exists! Committed to UC Berkeley in the meanwhile, but hoping to get off the waitlist at Brown. I’m not sure what my chances are though since my county’s representative at Brown never responded to me (i’m hoping he got it at least).

Do you think they send the notices seperately to internationals, like after admitting americans?
