Brown's adult program (RUE)

Haha, easier said than done! :)

Can you ask your friend whether the interview was evaluative or informative?

I'm betting on evaluative.

But let me tell you I did the waiting game myself two years ago so I know about waiting...but take it from me just sit back and let things roll at their own pace. You'll hear when you hear.

Every non-trad program I come across seems to have a decent military veterans acceptance rate. How many of you guys are from the armed forces?

I just got off the phone with RUE admissions. They said that never received my application. I mailed my RUE papers in February. I called them in early March to check if it had arrived, and they told me that they weren't processing them until later. Today, after several attempts, they were unable to locate me in their system. They have assured me that they will get in touch with me either way and that I should be able to resubmit my application if it turns out that it got lost in the mail. Does anyone here know the status of their application? Am I just unlucky, or does Brown pay little attention to RUE applications? I also called Fin Aid, and they didn't have anything from either.

Wow, that sucks!

Did you use tracking or anything like that? When I sent mine in, admittedly close to the deadline, I made sure to have tracking / signature verification.. so I know someone signed for it at the proper addresses..

Did they take your information when you called or something? I don't know how they'd know to contact you if they have none of your documents..

I guess I'm going to be calling this Monday to make sure everyone has everything of mine that's needed!

Looks like I'll be calling again...

Wow jak, that's sucks. I guess the only reason that I know that they received my application is that my check for the application fee just cleared yesterday. However, I don't know if they got my recommendations... and your post makes me a little nervous. Wish it was like incoming freshman where you could check your application status online.

I called today and spoke with a nice lady who told me that they had my application on file, but it was too soon for them to know whether or not everything was there.

They're finishing up the RD stuff right now and afterward will begin to look at the credentials for RUE applicants.. she assured me that if anything was missing, we'd be contacted.. but to give it another week or so.

So as long as you know they received your application, you guys should be good.

Hello Everyone

Does anyone know when Brown contacts the finalists for interviews?

I guess no one heard back from Brown this week… right???

According to the thread from 2007, it would have been the second week in April (2007 was April 8-14) and then decisions were released during the week of the 22nd-28th.

So if any of us are finalists I’m sure we’ll get a call pretty soon. I’m personally not expecting anything, but I’m certainly hoping. I know my recommendations were awesome, and I think my personal statement was at pretty solid.

I just wish I had a better idea of what they wanted in a student so I knew whether or not I was wasting my time… It’s not clear whether they want indications that someone will be successful in their academic environment and are willing to overlook past failures, or want people with little academic history but lots of life experience.

I figure that if I don’t hear from them by the end of next week, then I probably won’t hear form them at all (other than the rejection letter of course).

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

I spoke with someone on the RUE Ad Com Thursday and was told they had a meeting on Friday about reviewing the applications and would start the process this coming week. He sounded a bit frazzled and said they (being the admissions office in general) had looked at over 24,000 applications thus far and were a bit behind on the RUE, so my thoughts are don’t give up hope yet.

Interesting. Did he allude to how many applications they received this year for RUE?

He did not, and 24,000 seemed like a lot for undergraduate/transfer etc…but beyond what he said, I don’t know.

Hello,

I am also an RUE applicant. I found some of the prior information in these threads very interesting. I figured I would join the rest of the uneasy applicants, to pool our limited knowledge of Browns rather clandestine RUE program.

Last year phone interviews began during the 2nd week of April, however last years application deadline was February 15. Since the deadline was moved ahead 2 weeks this year I am surmising the interviewing will also commence later.

Yeah, the deadline was postponed this year to March 1st because they didn’t have the application form links working correctly…

I actually contacted them about it last November so I could get started on my application early, but they didn’t have it working properly until after the new year.

I just received conformation from an admissions officer that decisions will be made by May 1st. No word on number of applicants for RUE or the number they will be accepting. I wish you all the best of luck!

Hey stuck, how did you get the conformation? Did you call them to ask about it or did they tell you in an interview? If it’s the latter, then :frowning: for me. I haven’t heard a word from them.
