Did anyone else get invited to the Black Student Alliance Invitational? It said in one of the papers that our chances of getting admitted are excellent!

I did ! I say the envelope and started freaking out...and then I was like "oh this isn't an acceptance letter"...BAD TRICK DUKE ADMISSIONS! NOT FUNNY!

ShaquitaPack, it's not a trick! you can consider it more or less a likely letter. Chances are, you're going to be admitted if you don't start failing in school or rob a bank!

darn...and I was hoping that I could rob a bank to pay for tuiton crosses robbing a bank off my list...if I get rejected that'll be MEAN lol

you won't get rejected.. it's pretty much 100% gauranteed. Why else would they send you to Duke for 4 days, feed and clothe you, and make sure you have a fun time unless they were planning on sending you a letter of acceptance a week later? They're doing this to make sure you're so in love with Duke you won't accept any of the other schools that take you. So yeah, basically, you're in... just make sure your 3rd quarter grades are alright.

I would say that that's a load off my mind, but this means that I'll have to choose between Duke, UNC-CH, and Wake Forest. Although WFU hasn't mailed anything out yet, I'm pretty sure I'll get in with my minority status and test scores. If you would have asked me a year ago which I would go to, I'd say Duke hands down. But after doing research on the other two schools and visiting the campuses, it's not so easy anymore.
Where else did everyone else apply to, and are you going to Duke for sure?

haha i applied to 14 schools! basically all the ivys (except dartmouth), berkeley, georgetown, duke, NYU, William&Mary, Northwestern, and Tufts.. I was a semi-finalist for the Robertson's Scholars Program so I have officially been admitted to Duke (I didnt find this out until after the invitation i got from the BSA.. which is why i'm still going even though i've already been accepted), also got into Cornell (well, likely letter which means i'm pretty much in) and William and Mary.. i got rejected from NYU CAS but got into the GSP program.
basically, i'm definitely going to duke if i get rejected from HYP.. can't say i'd mind getting rejected from them though.. ever since i found out i was accepted at duke i've been obsessed with the place! so excited for next week :)
are you guys going to Duke for sure? (and Goodman, UNC-CH is awesome but Duke is amazing)

oh noooo....it's WAY too big for me... I'm going to a small liberal arts college. I'll have bragging rights tough "HA, I got into Duke" and to think UGA deferred me EA and I've gotten into TWO schools with 30% acceptance rates

DANG, Sudaneya4ever! That's a lot of schools! One of my best friends applied to William & Mary, and he got into UNC, so I'm trying to convince him to go to UNC so he'll be close by lol. He also applied to Cornell, but I don't know if he got in. I thought about also applying to Cornell, Emory, Brown, and Davidson, but I decided not to since I wouldn't go to any of them even if I got in, and I didn't want to waste money applying. Speaking of which, I bet you paid a fortune for 14 applications lol. I also applied to Elon and got presidential scholarships, honors college, Elon fellows, etc. No way I'm going there, though.

That's pretty much what I've been telling myself, Suda, but it's more complicated than that. For me, a big factor is the environment the university provides. They're all different, and I like things about each of them. I'm gonna visit each campus overnight again. And then money comes into account...bleh. I really wasn't expecting to get into Duke (well, get a likely letter), and I'm still getting over the shock. While I'm not 100% sure right now, I'm leaning HEAVILY towards Duke.

I wish I could go to the BSAI, but my band has state contest that day, and they REALLY need me lol. That, and if I don't go, I fail the class. Tell me what it's like.

I am currently a Duke Student and I wanted to let you know that all students accepted to BSAI have been accepted to the university. The administration tells you that the first night your guys come into town. It's suppose help make your impression of duke memorable so that you matriculate.

So how many people who went to BSAI are actually coming to Duke?

^check out the Facebook group, there's a discussion about just that
