BU housing

i know that both warren and towers have 24 hr quiet study lounges

I really like shelton and hojo, but if i get placed in there will i be put with another freshman or an upperclassman?

If it’s Shelton, probably an upperclassman. If it’s hojo, probably a freshman. But guys for real all the stuff on here…it’s all so random. There is absolutely no way to tell a) where you’re going to end up or b) who you’ll live with. You could end up with an upperclassman in west or warren too.

There are many quiet study areas around, not merely in the dorm. And because there are computers in many locations, you can email yourself a document or put it on a flash drive and work where you want if you don’t want to carry around a laptop or if you only have a desktop.

do you think it is good to live in a specialty floor?

wait i have a question. can you submit the housing survey before you put down an enrollment deposit? or do they need to be done concurrently?

You can submit it before, but they won’t look at it until after your deposit is in.

Is there any way to get a private bathroom at a social dorm for freshman?

What are the chances of a single room as a freshman?

really no chance of either, ryan and evan; the only way there may be a private bathroom (only a toilet from what i’ve seen) would be if there’s a handicapped bathroom on your floor.

Dang, guess I have to go for Brownstones my junior and senior year lol.

sry ask again, what do you guys think about specialty floors?

By junior year, you may want to live in an apartment. BU has lots of apartments in South, which is very close to campus and is a comfy neighborhood.

when is the due date for the housing survey? AND does the process work as a ‘first come first serve’ type of thing? if i still have not turned in my survey does this put me at a disadvantage to get the hall i prefer??
thanks…

also, how long/far is the walk from west campus housing to the SMG buildings?

It’s slightly over a mile. Maybe 1 and 1/4 mile.

how much time does the walk take? when im rushing to class in the morning? i will fill in warren as my first choice for housing but west will be my second, and i want to know what type of walk im looking at…?

invest in a t pass. walk would be ~15-20 minutes, much longer in the snow.

It takes 15 minutes without really booking it.

Instead of a T pass it’s more common now to get a Charlie Card and then fill it up as needed. The cards are free - normally you ask a T employee for one, like in Kenmore Station - and you add money at a kiosk.
