business school accepteees and exceptees

At a workshop for future business students, the dean of admissions ross said they have accepted exactly 48 preadmits so far. (as of last weds)

Thanks Niihla, any other good info?

ACT: 30

applied: Early October
decision (date): Accepted to LSA before Thanksgiving
decision (thumbs up/down): Rejected from Ross last week - not unexpected, but thought it was worth a shot

Don't go to DB02's website unless you want a bunch of spyware/adware on your computer.

Where are you getting adware?

still have not heard.. i guess no news is good news, for now
do you think getting into LSA honors gives you a foot in the door on this? my honors process is still pending, seeing that my essay isn't due until tonight.
& what is this about some.. business honors program? is that something different?

i dont think so

then again, i dont know much since im OOS...

Dream BSchool : Getting into LSA honors definetly won't hurt you, but it certainly won't boost your admission chance dramatically. I would assume that based on the academic caliber of the kids Ross is accepting, a fairly high % would be in LSA honors. Granted, I didnt get into LSA honors (I didnt apply, so I guess that doesnt count tho) and got into Ross. I think I said it somewhere else, but when I spoke on the phone with someone from Ross' admission office, they werent just looking for people with academic excellence (since its U-Mich, academic excellence is very common), moreso a strong balance between good academics, leadership experience/potential, and a strong interest in the field.

DB - the Mambo webportal software is filled with spyware/cookies and tiny crap like that. Which is why my popup stopper blocked about 8 popups when I checked it out :) Good portal software, just sometimes lethal for people not using Firefox. If you plan on continuing your business into college, I'd reccomend putting a little investment into a unique web design w/ some custom PHP. We'll be at Mich together, I can help ya out with that.

i'm crossing my fingers. i'm sure majority of the pool of applicants have high academic achievements and leadership. i'm not sure where i stand out; i feel like we're all striving to be the best.

sat: 2240 (one sitting); 2310 (combination of best scores); no idea whether they take apart your scores and rearrange them though
gpa: 3.88 UW (this is what I thought would really hurt me)
applied: Errr..LSA on October 3rd, LSA Honors in Mid-November, Ross mid-November
decision: LSA in November 1st, LSA Honors first week of December, Business 2/7

Right, well, I imagine my extracurrics are the hook cause my straight stats are not exactly fantastic. I attended a business-leadership camp over the summer in NYC which probably helped cause I wrote a lot of my letter about that.

Well, this is definitely gonna make choosing colleges harder :\ Good luck to all those who haven't been accepted, and good job to those who have. I have a good friend who's got spotless stats (pokes darkamaranth88) and good ECs and she's still waiting, so I'm sure UMich is biding their time.

I would not be surprised if the mean Ross Freshman had Wharton-type stats. As it stands, I know of 4 applicants who got in (not including the handful on this forum), and they all have 3.8-4.0 unweighed GPAs and SATs in the 2100-2400 range. Of the 6 on students on this forum who got in, all have Michigan GPAs of 3.8-4.0 and 5 of the 6 have SAT scores in the 2100-2400 range. The mean unweighed GPA of those 10 students is 3.9 and the means SAT score of those 10 students is 2200.

Ahhh im so anxious...when do u think they'll send all the decisions out by, or is just randomly rolling?

umm hi!! this is my first time posting here ^_^
