C in Calc II at one CC and an A in it at another CC

Hi guys, my friend took Calc 2 at a CC down in LA a year ago and got a C in it. She moved up here to the Bay Area but couldn't register for Calc 3 over at Diablo Valley since the counselors didn't approve her pre-req override. So she took Calc 2 again at DVC and got an A. When applying to the UCs, does the A cancel out the C? I know they do that for F's and D's but for C's I'm not 100% sure.

No; the A doesn’t overwrite the C. You cannot overwrite a passing grade.

Isn’t that an illegal repeat? They probably won’t count the better grade then.

It will not overwrite the C. Both will be calculated into your GPA.

@ oceanpartier: Ixr mentioned that the counselor at her friend’s new CC did not approve of her pre-req override, which probably means the counselor did not approve of the grade the friend got at the former CC.
