Hi guys. My friend just received a progress report that shows he has a D in Geometry. He blames this on decided to double up on math as a sophomore. He hopes to bring it up, but is just terrible at math. He has already fulfilled the requirements for math. Should he not take any more math? But, he also wants to go someplace other than a cc (he's autistic so doesn't really care for them. So would an extra year of math be needed? Thanks!

I think a C in math is alright, as long as his over gpa is over a 3.0.

I think he should take math. My mom only took math up to Algebra 2/Trig and always told me that she regretted it for the rest of her life. In college and in grad school, it was expected that she knew Calculus. Is your friend on a “college track?” If so, I’d recommend him taking as much math as possible.

If he is not a straight C student, he can still do more than a cc with a C in math.

He should take up to Algebra II at least, maybe even Pre-Cal.

Wow thanks for response. I forget to say that yes, his gpa even with the d is still a 3 for the semester and his cumulative if he gets a c will be in the neighborhood of 3.72 with about a 4 weighed and will be at least a c by the end of the semester. I also forgot a biggie. In my friends school, the flow of math is algebra 1->algebra 2->GTA(the class with the d). Ok, but I’m wondering now if he should just take the next year off of formal math and just study and take precalc next year or something else. Again, a lot of issues have happened to my friend in the last couple of months. Also, his dream school is USC SCA (doesn’t really care about major) should a C for one grade just to bad to forgive for this (sounding dramatic lol)
