I had a 148.

I had a 154… Not my luck then.

My Cal grants were pending until I sent my SIR to CAL and then denied at UCLA, UCSD and UCSB. Within hours of sending my denial it went from pending to denied.

CAL is the only school that did not list CAL GRANT as part of my financial aid.

I was also denied a competitive Cal Grant, but UCSD listed it in my aid award section. I qualify for Blue and Gold though, so I wonder if the entire amount will just be replaced with a university grant?

The pending certification is available to complete on the website now. go go go!! :)

***!!! my calgrant status changed to not awarded!!! But I qualify for blue and gold!!! What’s going on??? Is my UC going to pay my tuition or not?? anyone know? please??

@ucwannabee – did it ever say “awarded - on hold”, or something like that?

Blue and gold won’t show on the cal grant awards.

I’m still pending, but it says that I will be attending my current CC even though I’ve already SIR’d to Cal. Strange…

Name of the college(s) you expect to attend during the 2011-12 school year. (Please be sure to thoroughly search for your college in the dropdown list. All Cal Grant eligible colleges are listed).

Hm… If I still haven’t SIRed, should I list the two I’m debating between, or wait until I SIR to complete the transfer entitlement certification?

My Cal Grant still says “Pending Cal Grant Renewal” :/

I didn’t have to submit my GPA this year, which worries me. And my CC is still listed as my college…

So to answer the previous question I asked, when I talked to a fin aid officer at Berkeley (who was a student, so someone else who is interested might want to call and ask to confirm) told me that when either Cal Grant A-B is factored into our fin aid package, the only thing that changes is the university scholarship, while our loan/work study amounts stay the same. To use his phrasing: “the cal grant pretty much replaces the undergraduate scholarship, but the overall gift aid stays the same”

*** i am independent, a 3.7, and have an EFC of $4,000… not to mention 2 dependents and i got the same message as tamsin!

in my financial aid report from UCLA is says Cal Grant 11,000, so does that mean that will be taken away???

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
i hate this.

someone, anyone? am i really going to loose 11,000 from my ePal because some how the cal grant d-bags dont think i need one?

Liz, looks like you were not eligible for an entitlement award for some reason. It could be that you didn’t graduate high school in California or you are older than the maximum age (I think 28 but I could be wrong)

no i was eligible (im 26), it said my score was too low (not GPA, my total points), you get awarded “points” based on things like if neither of your parents went to college etc.

totally effing sucks.

Shouldn’t you have qualified for entitlement?

what do you mean entitlement?

you mean the cal grant? yes i totally did qualify, i looked up all of the conditions and i am within the guidelines of all of them. damn my parents for going to college.

i am pretty bummed. my UCLA ePal says $14,500 in gift aid, but that was including the cal grant.

i am a little worried.

For whatever it’s worth, if your community college was listed as #1 on your list you’re probably going to get “NOT AWARDED” for the calgrants. When you change the schools on the application it should fix itself.

Maybe that’s why mine’s still processing, I didn’t even list my community college on my fafsa (yea, I’m THAT sure), and only 1 UC from last year is on it this year. Heheh.

Liz, look up the difference between competitive awards and entitlement awards. Entitlement cal grant awards do NOT use the point system. There must have been a reason you were evaluated for a competitive one, and not given an entitlement one.
