Cal Grant Questions: Help?

Can anyone explain the difference between Cal Grant A and Cal Grant B? I qualify for both and supposedly Cal Grant B is better for me for UCLA.

In addition, when in accordance to my Cal Grant, UCLA was not listed as my first choice school. Back then, I put USC as my first choice since I thought I would need more money for a private school if I decided to attend there. However, even though I got accepted to USC, I want to go to UCLA instead. Currently my net cost for UCLA is $7500. Once I change my Cal Grant award to UCLA (whether it be Cal Grant A or B) and once I call the UCLA Admissions/Financial Aid Office, will UCLA reduce my university/or their "scholarship award" grant to balance out the Cal Grant, meaning...even if I do change the Cal Grant to UCLA, will I still end up paying $7,500 a year?

check your PM

yeah what is the difference between Cal Grant A and B? how come for some schools, I got Cal Grants A, for others B?

Yeah, I have the same problem. The cal grant doesn't appear on my epal letter. So the same question:

same question

Cal Grant A is merit based.

Cal Grant B is need based.

I have no idea why one school would pick one instead of the other.

Most likely the addition of the Cal grant to your award will decrease any loans. The sum you actually pay is reflected by your EFC. If your EFC is $7,500, then you'll be responsible for that much.

Do i have to call UCLA about my cal grant award? or are they already notified?

Notified of your gaming habits than the idea of awarding anything to YOU based on meritocracy.

huh?

10 char.

I called and they said they would reduce my Scholarship Recognition Award and not the loans :(

this is bull i didn't get anything!!!
