Hey guys,

I got accepted in to both Cal Poly Pomona and SDSU. I plan to major in Psychology and minor in Criminal Justice. Cal Poly Pomona offers more classes I want (criminology) and I liked the idea of it being more of an academic school, as I have heard that SDSU is a big party school. I went to SDSU's open house today only thinking I would be seeing how a campus works and answering general questions, but I ended up falling in love with it. Which do you guys think is better? I am not looking for a party, but a really good education. Any tips?

Well SDSU does offer a BS in Criminal Justice, if you really want more CJ classes, and then you would minor in psych., instead. I would personally attend SDSU, because when it comes to academics I look at incoming freshman grades, and SDSU has one of the highest of all CSUs. The only CSU that rivals is that of Cal Poly SLO.

There’s your answer right there. If you love SDSU, then go there. :)

Cal Poly Pomona. SDSU is the Chico State of the south! PARTYYYYYYYYYYYYY

It’s nickname is STDSU for a reason

I have the sense from people that have gone to those 2 schools that SDSU has more of the “college” atmosphere. Students come from all parts of the state and like to live in areas like Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. Pomona seems to be more people from the greater LA area, a large number of which live at home and commute.
It isn’t as if they’ll force you to attend parties. At any large public you’ll be able to find a group of students like you. And hey, who knows? Maybe you’ll decide you want both academics and some fun.

Go where you feel comfortable - both are of equal quality.
