Everything looks perfect on paper, and I’ve been working at this 2 1/2 Years at CC.
75 Units @ 4.0 all within the same SDCCD district. Degree awarded fall 2019.
What’s Next? I have a backup school in CO, but Cal Poly location holds very specific prospective work to my field, and familial connections in the area. Anyone have any experience with the appeal process and how applicable it is to general good standing denial cases like this?
When I transferred in 2017, SLO Day was when us transfers registered for our Fall classes (in addition to touring our respective colleges and meeting our college-specific advisors). I’m business administration and we also had different presentations given by the different concentrations that we could sign up for and attend.
They definitely give extra points for being local, but when I was talking to my counselor, she said there was not .1 GPA bump because SLO is so impacted. It might look good, but there is no numerical bump.
That’s how it went for us in 2017. We had an hour to research our classes and figure out how to navigate it all. There was not a lot of support for transfers. No one told us much beforehand.
Yes, you can look at your respective major’s program curriculum within the university’s catalog starting now. You will then need to find the flowchart of classes for your respective catalog year. In my case, there was only a flowchart for the 4-year students; there was no flowchart that articulated for the transfers. Also see in the catalog if those classes are offered in the Fall.
Next, figure out which classes you think you might want, and then go on to the “PASS” to see if those are still open. (You’ll want to do this after midnight of the night before or in the morning of (class seating and availability is updated at midnight every night).
You’ll want to figure out how many classes/units you want. I chose 3 classes / 12 units for my first quarter and it was more than enough for me. Everyone is different. Maybe someone else can handle 4 classes / 16 units.
Then, you’ll want to see WHO is teaching the class and find reviews on that professor on polyratings dot com or something like that.
Also have plan B, C, and D classes/schedule ready to go because you might not have enough seniority priority to register in time to get an available open seat and you’ll literally need to race to enroll in your backup choices or they too will fill up. This all is happening in real-time during your registration time.
As a transfer, no one told me and there was not a lot of support. I went thru a lot of stress because of it and it wasn’t necessary. I hope I can help other transfers because we are definitely behind the 4 year students.
On that ^ page you’ll see other links to the individual programs/majors and their respective curriculums. Also, you will see the link to the flowcharts.
Yes, I took it. All business majors have to take it. The first 2 weeks are review of what you’ve covered in your CC stats class and the other 7 weeks are new material. i might have the syllabus still. I’ll send it you if you want. lmk
sorry for getting back to you so late. I had a 4.0, but I was mainly focusing on UC’s so I didn’t complete some of the pre-reqs so that would most likely explain why I was waitlisted.
Yes I’d like to see what is covered! I was wondering if I could take it over the summer because I wanted to take classes over the summer. If not, I’ll just take it at CP
