Cal Poly SLO Transfer Thread for Fall 2020

Have any software engineering majors been accepted? My portal still says no determination has been made. It is my third time applying to cal poly with a 4.0 and at this point, I am expecting another rejection since it’s so late

i applied as SE and i am still waiting for a result. i hope to get in calpoly, but i am expecting a rejection like you… btw do you finish all of desired and required classes?

Where is everyone finding “Desired” courses?
I used only Assist . org to find required courses.

I was looking at the flowchart for my major. I also looked at the courses that I need to complete while at CP. From there, I generated a list of potential courses I can take during the Fall quarter and so on

you can find the information at calpoly website. search your major at the website and look at your major admissions. this was what i did with assist.org.

2019-2020 transfer here! For SLO days last summer, we were separated into our majors and talked with academic advisors within that major. They handed us two sheets of paper - one with all of our credits that transferred over, and another with the flowchart of what we should use as a guide for registering in Cal Poly. WE DID NOT REGISTER THAT DAY! All transfers have ONE registration date, at the same time as well. Basically, you choose what courses you want in SLO Days and run it by an academic advisor - then you wait until your registration date to actually register. It was really helpful bc you get to ask their opinions on professors and the courses, too.

@radicalhuman111 Thanks providing us with that valuable information! Based off what I read earlier, I was worried that there was zero guidance for registration or something haha

Thank you for this! But since we are last priority in registering for fall quarter classes, does that mean there will be very limited amount of spots left? Perhaps barely any?):

Thank you radicalhuman for the updated info! My info is 3 years old. I’m glad to hear they improved the process!

For the new transfers, also check your device’s upload speed. The ethernet wired machines on campus are pretty fast. Compare their number with your device’s number and consider using the quicker of the two. Literally seconds count when registering. Also make sure the little check box that actually selects the class is checked before you click submit; I learned that one the hard way.

What is everyone’s tentative plans with housing as of this point with coronavirus?

Here’s my thinking:
Isolation may last into the Fall quarter since it keeps getting extended (I’m currently under mandatory isolation until May 3rd).

I don’t want to pay for off-campus rent if I’m at home going to Cal Poly online. But if it’s not extended into Fall, then I need to secure an apt quickly since they usually are rented out fast. So I’ve been stuck in the do-nothing/wait & see mode.

Where do you guys stand so far?

Hello all, haven’t been active.

Congrats to those admitted, and best of luck to those now looking to attend other colleges. This took me such a long time to accept but I wanted to say it: where you go to school DOES NOT make you. How far you’ll go is entirely up to you. Doors have and will close in your face; keep going after the opportunities.

I will be attending Cal Poly this Fall 2020 as a transfer. I gave my efforts leading up to this point like everyone else, but ultimately, admissions is not in our hands. So what? Make the best with what you have. I am grateful to be admitted, but believe me, I was determined to make my own path forward no matter what school I attended.

With that off my chest, hope you all are safe. Remember to thank your family, professors, etc, that helped you to arrive where you are now. Now, you’ll be in a position to help others that follow in the transfer processes.

Go Mustangs

I’m in the same position as you. I don’t want to secure housing just yet because I don’t know if there will be an actual FALL quarter. I’ve been hearing from others that at the latest, this will all be over during fall.

Does that mean that SLO days and WOW could be affected? Possibly. I checked the CP website and they said that they’re monitoring what’s going on right now but they’re determined to still go through with the dates they have scheduled.

I personally would really hate to start the school year with my upper division courses all online. It just seems like such a waste and it definitely won’t be the same learning experience. If they were general classes like at jc I wouldn’t be so concerned.

Part of me wants to start ASAP and the other thinks it would be a good idea if they would let us postpone starting classes until they officially open the campus to usual routine. Heck, what if I just re-apply for next year -__-’

I’m also in the same mindset for housing. Not sure what they plan to do ultimately. I would like to be prepared and well anchored with the college lifestyle change but I can’t decide anything yet.

I don’t think we should start worrying until they come up with an answer. September is about 6 months away. We should all be congratulating ourselves for getting in:)

I agree, we made a huge accomplishment! I know it is stressful but we really just have to play it by ear/ day by day. We got this!

Hey Everyone! Recently accepted as a Nutrition major!
Does anyone know of any good Facebook groups/ resources to find other transfer roommates? Let me know!

i havent accepted my offer yet. is this bad?

its cuz im still waiting for like 10 other schools :frowning:

There’s a transfer group on Facebook! Just look up “Cal Poly SLO Transfers 2020”

Either Cal Poly SLO Class of 2022 or Cal Poly SLO Transfers 2020

You should be fine! You have until May 1 to make a decision.
