Cal State Chico?

I've been looking at schools in California, and so far Chico seems to be the best one for me and one I would have a good chance of getting into. I originally wanted to go to school in Southern California, but most of the schools I looked at were out of my range or commuter schools. The only thing I;m worried about with Chico is how isolated it is. I live in a small town in CT now but I'm ten minutes away from New Haven and like an hour and a half away from NYC. Chico seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Is it likely I would get bored there, or is there a lot to do? I've heard it's a party school but I don't know if that necessarily means there's a lot to do or students just get drunk all the time because there's nothing to do. Can someone who went to Chico/has lived there give me some advice on this school?
Thanks!

bump…

Like many large state schools, Chico will have every type of student that exists. There are many partiers as well as strictly academic types. It’s a fair ways from the nearest city, but you will get a more pure college-life experience there.

If you want to be near a city, there are California state schools that are in cities. You should look into San Francisco State and San Diego State. San Diego State is among the more competitive CSUs, but I think SF State is a bit easier.

As far as Chico, yes, it’s a party school. It’s in a small, cute town that revolves around the college students. There isn’t a city nearby, but I doubt you would get bored.
