Calling all EE Applicants :0)

I just got the email (better late than never?)! The waiting is killing me...and knowing my luck, my internet will be down or something on Tuesday at 5.

tientien: you are funny.

squaregirl: maybe all three get in.. or you get in due to superior essays or test scores...

Mariposa I just got the email too! ha ha I agree it was reassuring even though it was late. Sadly I won't be able to check until I get back from vacation on March 1st...so good luck girls!

Last year EE decision looked like a letter. My daughter quickly printed hers to make sure she was not dreaming and to have a hard copy as a proof :) There were three girls from her school who applied EE and RD, and all got admitted. Good luck to everyone!

Happily, I do think my essays/test scores may be slightly superior. Still, I'm staying humble and not expecting anything; I reaaallly hope I get a likely. :\ ARGH THE WAIT IS PAINFUL.

TRULY painful. I'm genuinely nauseated just thinking about it all. I'm trying (albeit unsuccessfully) to forget about the entire thing until the 24th at 5pm. :D

squaregirl: Whoo for an Austinite! :) I didn't think anybody from here was going to apply there. Course...that might not be such swell news for me ;)

Holla! Glad to see another ATXer here! Or...not. Heh. ;) Still, good luck to both of us! Wellesley needs more Texans!

does anyone know how many people actually do get a likely letter? a percentage or something? eek..nervous...

well i know their acceptance rate is 36%...

idk how many girls they accepted for ED...but for round-number purposes probably about 30% of us will get that likely email. someone better than me at math could probably give you a closer answer, but yeah. =)

I know they say only the top applicants get it, or something... :</p>

I'm not a math person either, but 30% would make sense for the percentage of us recieving "likely" letters. They accept 36% overall...and about 25% of the students who get a "possible" notification will be accepted. Grm.
Anybody know how many students applied EE?

I've just wasted a fair amount of time trying to figure that out, Sopralto. Why are there no numbers on it? The only stat that keeps popping up is that 25% of "possibles" get accepted in the end, which we all already knew.

Haha, I just realized that I kind of want school vacation to end so that Tuesday can hurry up and get here and I can finally know... :) God, if I'm like this now, what kind of monster am I going to turn into when RD decision time approaches?

ok let me take a stab at this.

on another thread i read that they'll accept around 1500/4125 girls that applied this year for the goal of enrolling 590. 120 were already accepted ED, representing 20% of the class (actually 120 is 20% of 600 not 590, but no matter). 590 - 120 = 470 spots left open for the 4005 girls left. wellesley's yield % (the percentage of girls that are accepted that actually end up going) is 42%. that means they'll need to accept 470/.42 = 1119 girls (and this is assuming they also deny anyone they deferred in ED). 1119 girls to accept/4005 applicants = 28%.

also assuming that anyone who gets a likely letter is in, and for the sake of my sanity...
between a quarter and a third of us will get that likely letter.
in really rounded terms. and if i did my math correctly (and it's entirely possible that I didn't).

:)
in other words - WE'LL HEAR TUESDAY.

A third? Heh. Maybe I should start thinking about Smith....

im surprised at how calm i am at the prospect that we'll know our ee decisions the day after tomorrow!! i think it might be because i have a lot of things to do between now and then. yay for keeping busy. im sure i'll be freaking out on tuesday though haha

Good luck everyone! I'm RD and the wait is killing me! :)

One.more.day.

bites nails

Yeah, tomorrow is gonna suuuuuck. :|

Counting down.. less than 20 hours.

Eek!
