BC teachers are still on strike now..and this probably will go on for like a month...

I am applying ED...and haven't got the school report and another teacher's letter done ...

Jesus..wut should I do? Can colleges evaluate me with only one teacher's recommendation and a special explanation letter of current situation??

I am worrying about my transcript too since students service may not be running during the strike...=.=

wut should I do.?? ppl help...it's urgent...I am crying........

I'm doing ED to Cornell. I've called them up and explained our situation. Their answer: Send it ASAP, and we MIGHT consider it for ED, but we MIGHT just put it off to RD.

Wow, thanks for such a definitive answer...

They said that the teacher's rec and come by like mid-November, as it is not TOO important, but they cannot start evaluating anything without a transcript.

principals are.. because they are admin and admin are hired by vsb not the union. the problem is IB reports are written by IB cordinators so I cant just have my vice principal or principal do it.
your office should still be opperating, and call them beforehand and ask for your transcript should work.

If you cannot get any part of your application in time, call up your MLA's and ask them to write a letter to the school. I just called up my MLA and he said he will write a letter for me asking for an extension on my behalf if the strike goes through November 1st.

you sure about office shutting down? admins cant participate in the strike.. also try emailing your teachers if you can.. most teachers use their school board email. if nothing else works call cornell and move your applicaton to RD

I just got a call from my MLA's office and he gave me the phone number and e-mail addresses of our principals who can print transcripts off for me.

If your MLA happens to be NDP..........good luck....
I'm gonna call Cornell again and talk to another admissions counselor. They HAVE to give us an extension if it goes past November 1st, because it is something we cannot control. This is so BS, but what do you expect in a socialist country.

I just called Cornell Admission Office....I spoke directly to the admission officer responsible for Canada....and it seems that they aren't doing anything about the strike besides just knowing the situation. WUt she said was we can file supporting documents no later than Mid-Nov otherwise they will defer us to RD pool. Rite now...MLA may be the only hope in order that we get in touch with school's principal....

And ...I think it is just bad luck this time...let's cross finger and pray
