In the supplement where it says that CALS students may want to pick a second major, if you are only interested in one major will this hurt your chances of being accepted into Cornell?

No. Don't pick a 2nd major because you feel like you have to. It might look ridiculous to pick two majors that have nothing to do with each other. I only picked one major and was accepted (ED).

I only picked one, I personally thought picking one looked better.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have another CALS question: how do I find out the enrollment within the college by major?

check the departmental sites...they might be helpful.

This is the main site: http://www.cals.cornell.edu/

examples of sub sites are BEE: http://www.bee.cornell.edu/ and AEM: http://aem.cornell.edu/flash.htm.

I also had only one major and got in..mainly b/c i was too lazy to write another essay >.<
